Polish questions?

Hey guys I am not sure if this belongs in this section. But this is general enough for all I guess. The question is:

What kind of polish package do you use? Since winter is comming, I want to polish my baby before it gets too cold and too cruel for the car.

ps. while moving, I lost all my 3M products so I am thinking of some other wax -- 3M was great but I was wondering if there is anything that can outshine and outlast 3M

I use Zymol. I don't know how it holds up to weather, but it sure makes my dings shiny. Ron.

oooh look - 300 posts. Time to celebrate with some cheap pink wine.

3M all the way

I've always used 3M products. Great stuff. I highly recommend

How is Zymol? Is it great? How is the shine? I heard that the german company was taken over by turtle wax and they are re-labeling turtle wax as zymol though. Is it true?

I use meguiars gold class in the summer, and eagle one wet look in the winter. I worked at a detail shop, and we found that the meguiars had the best UV and sun protection, but diddnt hold up to the salt on the roads here in SLC. We found that polymer wax (teflon etc) works really well against salt. we tested a few different polymer waxes, and found that eagle one worked better than anything we could buy commercially. THats about the only time I have seen the consumer parket offer a superior product. I use this tecnique on both my vehicles and they are both black.

i am too lazy to wash my own car.

they only thing i take the time to do is shine my tires and clean my wheels. beyond that i let the car wash place hand wash it for me! :D

The guy I work with said Zymol was great and I gave it a try. I think it is the most low maintenance polish I have used. The shine is really great, it lasts a long time and smells like a fruit salad when your putting it on. Its got all this organic stuff in it. When I wash the car off with a water brush the shine is even better! The last part of the application is to spray the car with a water mist and then dry off the car with a cloth. I always skip that step. The best part is that Bird dodo and tar has a hard time sticking to the stuff.;)

I use DRI WASH waterless car wash/polish. Amazing stuff. The car shines so brightly. It really does a good job protecting the paint and beading up the water. Worst drawback is cost.

I wash the car with Zymol - so far it is the best wash I have found as far as water spots and I have tried alot of them. I clean and polish with meguiars liquid and wax with meguiars caranuba wax.

This is an interesting list. Up until now, I used Nu Finish. It is inexpensive, easy on/off application and gave a great level of protection for the money. I used it only because it was recommended by ALL of the used car dealerships our Advertising Agency handled. I'm surprised that it shows up so high on the list, though.

With the SVX, I use Meguiar's products. Once every couple of months, I go through the six hour process of Wash (Meguiar''s Gel Shampoo) -- Paint Cleaner -- Polish -- Gold Class Wax. I wash my car about once a week. Every other month, I merely wax with Gold class. On the days I wash and don't wax, I use Meguiar's "quick detailer."

I'm considering going back to Nu Finish. :D

I guess I should go Zymol. Also, randy, if you could add zymol on the list, it would be nice since I got a couple of PMs regarding adding zymol on the poll and I can not do that..

This is really gonna sound stupid.

I like, uh, (heheh), uhm, Dura Shine. (Don't throw things!) But I can't find it anymore, and I'm not about to order it off the 'net. Actually, I used Dura Shine whenever I washed the car. It's not a great polish, but it's a great preservative/rust preventive. I wax with something else, whatever's on the shelf, well, whenever I can. (Not often enough.) And I try to use Dura Shine the rest of the time. I passed an almost pristine Escort  on to my daughter, after using Dura Shine almost exclusively on it for four years. She's had it for three years, never washes it, and it's absolutely gone to seed.
I found a similar product from RainX the other day and used it yesterday on both my cars. It seemed to work pretty well - even shined some. I just hope it has the anti-rust stuff in it.
