just bought an svx, what's this button do?

it's done: 92 SVX LSL with 142k is mine. i guess claret is maroon in svx parlance.

i bought an automatic (arent they all? smirk) but what's the little 'manual' button do?

n00b on demand 09-15-2007 06:38 PM

It allows you to skip first gear and start in second so that you can have better control in really deep snow and situations where you need more traction. Hit manual and put the selector in 2...it will skip 1st gear and start in second. Don't use it unless you need to.

i have a crazy idea, use the search button:eek:

Ricochet 09-15-2007 06:42 PM

If you're in 2 isn't that the highest gear you can go? ..or does pushing the manual button override that

louis 09-15-2007 06:46 PM

why hit search? he answered.

:)

Thats my understanding, and that it can only be used in 2 or 3 not in 4. With the gearshift in 2 it will be like you said but if its in 3 it will start out in second but will allow the transmission to upshift to third. Only thing is i can't find my damn manual to confirm it.

Come on man... at least make him feel at home in his first few posts... then when he hits 10, we can start teasing him with the "prominent" SEARCH button :p:D

http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/...l#manualbutton

Yup. In 2 it makes the transmission hold 2. In 3 it lets it switch between 2 and 3.

n00b on demand 09-16-2007 10:07 AM

yeah sorry...if its in 2 thats the highest it will go. I should have mentioned that

NikFu S. 09-16-2007 11:09 AM

That's the highest it will go

unless you hit redline.

Redline overrides all other priorities and forces a shift.
