Glass Headlight Assy
Do ther cars over there have Glass or plstic headlight assemblies?
Thanks |
Glass, but they are angled for cars that drive on the left hand side of the road...they will blind oncoming drivers if you put them in a LHD car/LHD system (like US) apparently

The glass/plastic lens does direct peripheral light, but the main focus is controlled by the internal settings. Doug |
Muchas interessanto
That's interesting Doug.
The main beam is the one with the fresnel cuts in the glass/plastic for spreading the beam. When main beam is switched off, dip beam is the hemispherical polycarbonate lens, and it shines through practically plain glass/plastic. So there will be precious little of the dipped beam throwing high to the left [over here] or high to the right [Europe or US] What does DOT designate? Is it the UK Dept of Transport, and would that be the setting for these parts? Joe:) |

The DOT and E-code have enough similarities that with minor adjustment the lights can be made to fit into either specification. This is an example of the beam patterns. If you rotate either one, you will see how it can be set for the other specification. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/mohrds/15776.gif http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/mohrds/15775.gif There are in fact some newer vehicles that comply to both DOT and E-code simultaneously. They barely comply with either, but enough to meet the minimum requirements of each. The pattern looks very similar to a smiley face Hope this helps. Doug |
Yes,
That's perfect. Thanks :) |
