Ok, now that I have some free time I can tell you a little about how that fit in there, the motor mounts are the same distance apart as you probably already know about because of the imprezas with the svx engines in them, the sub frame had to be cut a little where the header and up pipe goes because on the wrx subframe there is a spot for the exhaust to pass by but in the svx subframe there isn't. That is going to get strengthened once everything is done being cut. We modified the svx A arms to accept the wrx hubs which was a lot easier than I expected. and the only other thing I am working on is putting the wrx power steering assembly into the svx subframe, no clue if it fits I was just happy the engine fits in there. The hood does close, clearances are a little tight but I can work on that but the cool thing is I have about a foot in front of the engine for a nice big front mount, so I won't have to do any cutting. The only thing left to mount now is the transmission. I don't know what I am going to do for that yet. More info as it comes, I just had to have surgery on my eye because a chip of metal flew in it so I am walking around half blind so probably nothing new til the middle of this week.

no fraking way!!!

Excellent work man.

Now, where's the how to!!!

Manarius 03-26-2007 10:11 PM

I smell boost on the horizon. Lots and lots of boost.

You could do a V-Mount with the radiator and intercooler like the racers are doing on some of the swapped 240s. Also if you havent already, you can use the Group-N mounts and modify them to lower the engine. Thats what we're having to do with the Stage III supercharger to keep the pulley to stop rubbing the hood.

04sti 03-27-2007 09:22 AM

how exactly do you modify that mount, I have one on order and my parts guy said there is a bracket that you might be able to cut or something to make it shorter.

mikecg 03-27-2007 10:10 AM

I didnt do it myself, but Longassname at ECUTune has done it, and TomsSVX did the ones on my car.

me likey very much !!
kind of a goal of mine in the next 12-18 months........

but really, isnt it all a little predictable???(tongue in cheek):D

why not use a FRONT wheel drive 4eat and install a second wrx motor fwd 4eat in the rear??

that way you have reliable twin turbo power!!!
hehehehe

rob"yes i'm sick, but i like it"m.

you guys are using the 2.5 engine mount brackwets right?? try and use the EG33 mounting brackets minus the side bolt. This wil significantly lower the engine 1/4" or more since the mount studs won't be using the outer most portion of the subframe slots... Pics in my locker on the mounts. You guys can feel free to call me, send me a PM and I will give u my #. Also, I make X-members for SVXi that convert to 5mt SO, as long as your engine is mounted in the same place as an EG33, the trans X-member I make will be a good solution to mounting the trans... Anyway, glad to see you lost the idea of using the imprezza subframe because I knew that would have been more trouble than it was worth. Good luck and get in touch with me if you want to know more about the mounts...its hard to explain in text

Tom
