SVX pretty tough car
I was searching on E-Bay for anything useful and affordable and came acrose this guy in Utah selling and SVX for $500. I then read that he flipped it. The SVX is a tough car. dot to much damage for a rollover.

That doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. I'm sure that the rims and tires alone are worth $250-$450. Good parts car.

Agreed. Plus the engine should still be fine and even if it has over 100K miles, it'll be worth at least $300+.

I agree. It looks like a great buy if you you can get it for that price. I would be a great parts car.

How much stuff you gonna drag to MN, Steve?

Why can't people do that in my neck of the woods? I'd probably buy it if wasn't in freakin' Egypt...or Utah....whichever.
I thought it'd be cool to take a WRX wagon, remove the rear doors, and shorten the whole car by that much. So less than a week after I had that idea, I see an add for a WRX wagon with 10k miles on it. Only $4000. Why? Cause the guy slid it sideways into a tree. Where? Right smack in the rear door. He tweaked the whole body in that section so it was totaled. It still ran and drove and was otherwise perfect. ...but of course he lived on the freakin' east coast. Couldn't be much further away. |
Not too inconvenient
It really isn't a big deal to ship a car from Utah to Puget Sound, WA. All you have to do is rent a car-trailer (all 4 wheels off the ground) from U-Haul, which is $195 for 6 days, and bring it home. U-Haul even allows you to rent the trailer from Utah and return it in Seattle (no extra charge). All you need is a truck to tow the trailer. You're looking at spending $400 to $500 total (tow trailer, gas, food, misc.).

Feel sorry for the trunk monkey :(

A big part of that is not being able to look at what you're buying - especially when there are soooo many things on that car which really need to be looked over.
Still, $500 for the car and $500 to transport it. I resent paying $2 shipping on a $2 item. Moving the decimal point two digits to the right doesn't make me feel any better about it. I've got the trailer, the truck, and the time. I just don't want to spend any of it on an uncertain purchase with nearly it's entire value spent on shipping. Five hundred, yes. A grand, no. |
I am thinking this "might" make a perfect SVX race car. Something to take the race load off my daily driver, and its fairly close too! Hey Uncle Mitch? How far is this from you? Up to checking it out for me?
:D |
LOL! Me too...he must have been banged around back there! :D
