SVX 5-speed tranny swap

Thanks Chris!!!!!!!!

Is there anyone in the Toronto area that's done a conversion from auto to stick ? I've heard theirs a mechanic/shop in Guelph, Ontario who can do the conversion, is this true? :)

I split this into a new thread for you. Welcome to the site. :)

There's less than a handful of 5 speeds in Canada (3 by my count)

I'm not sure but I believe awdrocket92 has a 5 speed and would be the closest to you. The other 2 would be my dad and myself.

If there are other 5 speed owners in Canada that I'm not aware of I hope they chime in.

I'm chiming in!

Well not yet - but I've purchased the car, transmission ('03 WRX) etc. It looks like the conversion will start in mid-October with plans for completion by the end of November. I'll let you know.

Sault Ste Marie

Hey guys. I'm in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. I have an svx which I recently did a 5 speed swap from an 04 wrx.

Earthworm 09-22-2005 12:52 PM

When did you complete your swap and how long did it take?

Does anyone know if there has ever been 5 manual SVX's in the same place? I know we've had 4.

The SVX mechanic in Guelph is Iain at Planet Motorsports. His number is 519-826-0311.
He has done several 5-speed swaps, at least 2 this year.

Hi and welcome to the site. I'm trying to keep track of all the 5spd SVX's in Canada. How many SVX 5 speed conversions can you confirm this guy has done?

TomsSVX 09-30-2005 12:50 PM

We had 3 out of 5 at the last Atco drag meet being manual (myself, Subafreak6mt, and John5mt) the other two were Tom(powerondemand) and Ben in the racer

I think that's a first...more manual SVX's at a meet than autos!

5 Speed swap under way

The pedal assembly is fabricated and installed. The clutch master cylinder also is installed. When I bought the car the wiring harness had been cut out so I had to replace that too. The motor and '03 WRX 5 speed are the next to go in.

I wish I had the tools, time, knowledge and skill to do this work myself but I don't. Nonetheless, I'm enjoying watching the progress.

I still don't know how to tell my wife what I'm doing - any suggestions?

Tell her that you're saving money in the long run by replacing the troublesome 4EAT with a much more reliable and cheaper 5MT.

bcpianoman 11-29-2005 12:40 AM

I'm in deeper trouble than that

It's not so much that she doesn't know about the transmission swap. She doesn't know I've bought the car!

TomsSVX 11-29-2005 12:42 AM

Tell her now. The sooner the better.
