how much have you sunk into your svx?

just curious....

Seraph 07-30-2002 02:16 AM

On which one? In which year:

Moneypit -- Repairs alone, around 10000 in a year + cost of car
Experimenatal -- 2 oilchange, 1 check up, cleaning -- around 250ish
Flagship -- 3000, including new euro coner lamps, and cost of car. :D

So... it varies.

Do you want spread sheet charts for each car? ;Þ

Is this supposed to be including or excluding the cost of the car? I've spent $700-800 on the car, not including thousands for the car itself, a few hundred for shipping and almost $600 for tax/registration/smog check.

Ok, Seraph, most ppl are normal and only have one svx! :p you on the other hand can't be satisfied with just one, you have to buy all of them you can find because you are svxgreedy :)

and i wanted repair prices over the years, not after market.
i wonder who has spent the most on repairs??

I don't know Kelly, there's many a member here that has the SVX plurality syndrome... :)

If I'd have the money and space, I'd consider it too... :D

waaaaayyyy too much

Well, if i include my wreck I have sunk roughly 15,000 in repairs. Of that amount the insurance company paid 11,000 and then i paid the rest and then another probably $2,000 over the last 2 years in random fixes. So, i have paid more in repairs for the car than I paid for the car originally, but if i had the chance I would do it all over again :-) I love this car, and is my second most valued thing in the world :-)

blackbolt94red 07-30-2002 09:45 AM

cost of ownership

All things considered, having had this car for almost 8 years, and considering its my daily driver thru 7 1/2 South Dakota winters (altho I do have a heated garage) the cost (not including the original cost of the car) has been around 3K. Now, that does not seem all that bad for 8 years, does it? Who knows what the furture holds however, after returning from Lafayette my transmission has started to 'surge' now and then at slow speed.

HAHAHAHAHA......

i believe at this point with all my mods and the numerous repairs and problems i have spent well over $10,000. i have some kind of a/c sensor problem that is not allowing my compressor to come on. that will probably cost me $400-600. getting my calipers painted and that is going to be $150-200. it never ends.....:)

mohrds 07-30-2002 11:50 AM

I haven't put much into the car. Total for the last eight years is well under $6,000 which averages out to about $750/yr. Luckily I only had to pay fo the first Tranny rebuild. The last ten were compliments of the dealership. Other expenses were new rotors and pads a few times, new cats (WI is a smog check state), a few sets of tires, timing belt, water pump, and an alternator.

That's not bad considering that is equal to one months car payment on some other cars I have had.

I think I have officially now spent more on repairs, etc than I paid for the car 3 years ago. But the way I look at it, it's no different than any other project car, except it's way cooler.

Gotta make another appt for yet another bearing.....

Well, I've easily spent more on repairs and mods than I did originally for the car.. It would've been nice if the tranny didn't die the day I bought it! Then the engine from the drive home from the dealership!

At least my AC was a cheap fix! Thanks again Huck!!!!!!
