Rear reflective strip

Can anyone give me some guidance as to how to remove the plastic reflective strip embedding the reversing lights?

Can't help you much with this, Dave, I've never had it off.

Speaking to an Englishman. Ummm, let me rephrase that...... :D

Never having dis-assembled mine, ....

Have a look at this diagram, it may help:

http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=842-B

You can see there are a number of bolts protruding from the rear of the lights panel, quite a few of them visible. These are held to the bodywork by the "flange nuts" at the bottom of the list.

It should only be a case of removing the grey trim from the rear of the bootlid for access. Then removing these flanged nuts. It should then pull off, though obviously you should first remove the bulb looms from the lights unit.

If it does not shift with all nuts removed, then perhaps it is siliconed around the edge to keep water out of the boot. If it is, you should be able to see the mastic, and you may have to cut through it with a stanley blade or a scalpel blade to release it.

Anybody else know any better than that? Svxcess??

Joe :)

having remove more then enough lights on the svxes, which part are you talking about? Find a picture of a part and I'll tell you how.

Lwin,
I had to take the facia off my SVX and followed your diagrams. They were a great help. Many thanks.
My next challenge is the rear light cluster, which is part number one on the diagram posted by Joe.
Do you happen to have any instructions for the glove box?
Dave

Joe,

It was simple. Eleven bolts, undo the wiring loom and lift it off. Thanks for the diagram.

Dave

No problem Dave, glad it worked OK.
