Engine Rebuild question

I am looking for any recommendations of places to send out my SVX engine to get rebuilt, any help would be appreciated. Also have an 04 wrx 5 speed transmission in my svx and would like any recommendations for a good aftermarket clutch.

Thanks,

Anthony

What are you looking to have done to your engine?

I'm looking for a complete rebuild of the block and heads as well as all new gaskets and seals. As well as possibily getting some performance work done with the block, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds if possible.

Re: Engine Rebuild question

So you need/want to build a fresh engine and while you are at it you'd like to improve performance.

If you would like to have SVXfiles break down and assemble your engine and get the pistons and camshafts from me I could take care of the porting, deck, and get the machine work done to my level of precision.

Well that's definitely a thought, what is something like that going to run me?

Re: Engine Rebuild question

That can range quite a bit. The prices for the pistons and cams are on the website which is probably worth looking at to begin with. Then I'd suggest talking with svxfiles to decide things like if you want performance coatings and porting and how much porting. I have a thread here somewhere that documented the build of my engine. You should probably look through it. There's one documenting my build of Tony's engine too that's also worth a look through.

my engine:

I would suggest an engine like the one I built for anthony.

Tom

This may be a route I'm interested in going for my 95 auto with 206k miles. Thanks.

Re: Engine Rebuild question

The easiest way to figure it all out is probably if you start talking with svxfiles so he can start figuring out what it's going to take him and what he should charge and he can contact me and we can guesstimate how much shuttling stuff back and forth will cost. I have cylinder head crates here I can send him but he's going to have to build crates for the block halves.

Michael,

Are you going to update your thread on Tony's engine build (last post was 3/24/09)? It's a great read, but I keep looking for the final chapter ;):D

Re: Engine Rebuild question

Actually it's Tony's thread. He still hasn't installed or run the engine as far as I know. He's gotten into developing individual throttle bodies for it and trying to figure out to improve the high rpm cooling of svx engines. I suspect the performance coatings we used in his engine will prevent him from having any cooling issues but he wants to be safer rather than sorry so he's figuring out how to upgrade his svx's cooling first.
