Gas Mileage

What kind of gas mileage do you guys get? I am getting about 200-240 miles per tankful of gas? Is this about average?

Tony117s 02-20-2006 10:38 AM

How much gas do you put in to fill it up?

I get about ~300 miles and add about ~14 gallons...

Or at least I did before the engine went boom :( :(

Personally, I'm getting about 18mpg around town and 25+ travelling (@75-85mph). I fill up at about 220mi when in town, but she only takes 11-12 gallons. Damned gas guage takes a nosedive at about 110 mi, and is unreliable after that, so I just keep her full. ;)

I'm pulling an average of 17.33mpg over the last ten tanks.
High of 19.6 in early October, low of 15.1 early this February.
I use 90 grade fuel with octane booster additive.

I go about 160-180 miles in the city per full tank. It's by far the worst gas mileage of any car I have ever owned. I think I had it figured that the best tank I ever ran got me 14-15mpg

shelfy 02-20-2006 12:34 PM

i usually see the fuel light around 320 miles and fill up around (4 round trips from work). car takes about 15 gallons.

dannmarr 02-20-2006 01:11 PM

I usually get 425-450 MPG (highway miles) when the gas gauge lights up. About 16 gallons to fill up. I average around 25-27 MPG.

ensteele 02-20-2006 01:23 PM

I usually get 20 to 22 mpg driving in city and highway. On the highway, I will get up to 27 or 28 mpg.

Are you running high test gas in your SVX? If you're not, it would kill your gas mileage.

I've found that doing spark plugs and air filter helps out gas mileage. But, I can't seem to get past 20 mpg on my car and I don't race it that badly.

Budfreak 02-20-2006 02:28 PM

I was getting 200 miles a tank city and 240 highway when I first bought it. I've slowly but surely gotten it to about 260 a tank in the city and 380 highway.;) I've done all you can imagine to do it too. Plugs, airfilter, O2 sensors, cleaned the TB and sea foamed the intake, PCV valve, MAF sensor, And of all that the thing that helped the most was 4.44 gears and a magnaflow exhaust. After I had them installed is when I got 380 miles on the highway. I had a CEL light that came on everyday with a code 32 and sometimes a 37 But after the exhaust got put on I haven't had one since. BTW, I run nothing but 93 octane. Good luck.

Glad I'm not the only one getting crap gas mileage.. 180-200 miles per tank here. With gas prices these days, I'm thinking about buying my buddy's 1988 supercharged MR2 that gets 300 miles on a 9 gallon tank.

Earthworm 02-20-2006 03:58 PM

I'm happy to get 300 miles/tank in our cold weather!

DarknessofDeath 02-20-2006 04:06 PM

i usually get about 320-350km's when i fill up at the pump. depends on how sh!tty traffic wants to be in the city and on the highway. fill up about every two or three days

i dont ever let the needle go down to the last tick before empty. so i usually put in gas when the needle reads about just under half to maybe about........a third of a tank/rarely a quarter tank.

i use 94 octane gas only ~ sunoco ultra 94
but the O2 sensors needs to be changed as well as the muffler (loose baffles and getting loud) and spark plugs.

SubyLuver 02-20-2006 04:46 PM

I have been getting about 200-240 on 93octane gas, I am wondering how these people are getting 300+ miles on a tank of gas???? I do need new plugs so I will check after I do those... I imagine the 2.5rs FPR doesnt help gas mileage.
