1994 Barcelona Red 5-speed manual *SOLD*

The car is sold. Thanks everyone for their assistance and interest over the years of my ownership. I might still show up in Reading, but I might not be driving an SVX. :)

Location of the SVX: Eastern Pennsylvania. It was at the Reading Meet, on Saturday afternoon, wwwayyyyy down at the far end.

Year: 1994

Model: SVX LSi

VIN: JF1CX3554RH102324

Manufacture date: January 1994

Paint Color: Barcelona Red

Interior Color: Gray!

Miles: 151K

Location: Didn't I already answer this one?

Options: No heated seats, not sure what other options there were...

AWD or FWD: AWD

Modifications: WRX 5-speed gearbox with short shift kit (installed by TomSVX I believe)

Major service:
- new clutch kit, flywheel resurfaced
- new tires
- new front rotors, calipers, pads, ABS sensors
- stainless steel brake lines (fronts installed, rears still in the bag)
- new battery
- new genuine Subaru hood struts
- new genuine Subaru trunk struts
- Intake manifold R&R; new hoses, knock sensors, PCV valve
- Headlights/taillights polished & seam sealed
- HIR low and high beams
- AC system freshly charged

Engine Condition: Feels strong. Previous owner claimed that timing belt was done not long before I bought it, but I have no records.

Maintenance Records: Very little - just my own

Transmission condition: Excellent, new clutch too

Glass condition: Windshield has stone chip. Very light scratching on side windows.

Type of tire and remaining tread: Continental Extreme Contact All-Season 225/50 ZR 16

Type of wheels: 5-spoke, I'm told they're RX7 rims. I think they look sexay. They could stand a serious cleaning.

Interior condition: Fair

Body condition: Fair. A few small dents, clear coat is coming off in a few places. Wing is pretty bad. Sunroof has dents in it (how does that happen?). Previous owner made feeble attempts at repair which mostly made things look worse.

Known defects or problems: This car was previously owned by someone on these boards, and he swapped in an interior from a 1992 car. Problem is, the VIN tag from the '92 is still on the dash, which causes no end of woe for state inspections and other events that require accurate identification. I now have the car registered with a "V" (reissued VIN) title in Pennsylvania, and a shiny new VIN plate under the hood. So the next owner should not have any issues.

Comments about the car: I always wanted to drive an SVX, and one day the bug bit me bad enough that I started researching them. I found this fabulous forum, :) and I learned that they were all automatics, which sort of put me off - I'm a manual shift kind of person. Then I learned that people were swapping in 5-speeds and I thought, hmm, that would make a difference. Then I found a 5-speed manual nearby! So of course I had to get it. That was 3 years ago, February 2010. The inspection ran out in April of that year, and the car needed a few things to pass, which took me about 1-1/2 years to complete. Then I learned about the VIN issue, and another year passed until I got around to squaring that away. I drove the car occasionally, old sticker and all, throughout that time to keep the juices flowing, and I have been driving it about once a week since getting it back on the road. In all I have put a total of about 1500 miles on the car in 3 years. I've enjoyed it, but it's time to move on.

Asking price: $2400 once again, now that the exhaust is fixed.

EDIT: Sean asked for some pictures of the bodywork that needed attention. Here they are.

I think its the fact that nobody wants to pay to replace the 1225/50 ZR 16 tires when they wear out.

I test drove this car a few months ago. I would buy this car myself if I it didn't mean giving up my Silver (I don't have room for another car.) The car drives very well, pull strong and has a pretty decent interior. The 5 speed swap was very nicely done. Looks and feels as if it came from the factory that way.

As noted by wdb (and as seen in the pictures) the exterior is missing clear coat in several places and it has several small dents on the roof but is almost completely rust free. Just one little spot on the passenger door if my memory is correct. The rear wheel arches are perfect.

With new paint it has the potential to be a really nice solid SVX. Good luck with the sale wdb. :) Are you still planning to bring the car to Reading?

Not trying to hijack wdb's thread but I have a clean rear seat bottom that I would be willing to part with that would be perfect to replace the split one in this car.

Lots of potential. Yes needs paint. Miles not bad. This car could be a nice driver. Oh and I love RED. GLWS. Finding a god running 5 speed is not that easy..I also noticed how undingged the doors are. Is it really that ding free?

Those 1225's can be a bear to find too. (Fixed)

Thanks Sean! I plan to be there at least part of the day Saturday, probably for the afternoon activities. I was also hoping to volunteer my services for the autocross on Sunday but that's pending my wife's plans for my time.

Bump for price drop. The car has to find a new home.

Still for sale. Anybody, Bueller...

Re: 1994 Barcelona Red 5-speed manual

Wow I can't believe it is not sold... There was a guy on here that was looking for a car like that... Ended up buying a really bad SVX spent a ton on it and found that it only was running in rear wheel drive. ( when he got stuck in a snow bank ) I don't think he is still no this forum , too bad. This would have been up his ally.
If it were my car. I would paint the bumpers with black bumper paint. I would do body work on the trunk ,spoiler and sunroof. And paint them black... Is that a dent in the front pass fender or a reflection? Why did the guy replace the seats with seats with holes? Back seats are easy to find and replace. Front seat can be repaired for $100. Like I said in an early post nice car. Needs a little work. If I didn't just spend my yearly toy allowance on a new motorcycle. I might be checking it out. That car is also easy to go through emissions. At least in Conn. it is a tailpipe only test.

I'm not a fan of bodywork. I've done it, but in this case I'd rather sell the car to someone who doesn't mind doing it, even if the price suffers.

The front passenger fender is a little tweaked.

I have no idea why the interior was swapped. It was done by a guy who used to be on these boards so maybe there is a record.

I've sort of been missing my pearl...If this is still around in September or so...Chuck is going to get this for himself for his 22nd birthday ;)

I only knew of one that was interior swapped and I believe it was not that color and was a 92. I almost bought it.

Is this Jay's old car? If so, I did the 5mt swap and he spared no expense getting a good trans and other parts to do it right. Been a long time since I have seen it but it used to run great! GLWS!

Tom

edit: Its got to be his old car, still got my old RX7 rims on it!!
