A/C Compressor sometimes does not turn on
Just had the system completely vacuumed and refilled - When the compressor turns on, it works great. But about 1/4 times, it just will not engage until about 15-20 minutes later. I can't figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas why the compressor would wait to turn on, if the pressure checks out fine?
Thanks, Geoff |

I'd try pulling codes from the climate control unit; it's ridiculously easy. See the attached (toward the end).

Looks like it's reading a Code 15 - Refrigerant temp sensor open
Is this something I can take care of, or should I take it to the Subie dealership? |

See page 22 for the location of that sensor. Probably not the easiest thing to get to, but you could get lucky and it just be a loose plug or something. |
Re: A/C Compressor sometimes does not turn on
So I have to remove the glove box, and it's somewhere down there? My guess is that the system would need to be evac'd beforehand?

Re: A/C Compressor sometimes does not turn on
I'm not exactly sure how to change that sensor out. I'd first get a replacement sensor and then evac the system, then take apart as much of the dash/glovebox area and swap it out. Test it before putting it back together.

I would first make sure that the system is properly charged. I have been told that when they are not properly pressurized it will cause compressor to act sketchy.

It's just that the compressor won't run sometimes...and the HVAC is giving me code 15. |

$5 says there's a loose plug that's preventing it from working. |
