Toon!

VwVortex went nuts a couple weeks back with tooning cars in photoshop. It's actually fairly easy to do, and this is a tooned version of a modified pic of my car...

I love doing these, and will share how to do it, if you guys don't already know...

What do you think?

mikecg 02-19-2005 02:42 PM

I'm interested in knowing how you did it.

Weebitob 02-19-2005 09:05 PM

Is it just me or is there a resemblance?

That is absolutely awesome! I've never seen anyone do it with an angle shot like that. To save me the frustration of doing it myself, can you just chop a 97 grill onto that baby so I can say it looks just like mine?? :):D Oh...and I really would like some instructions on the art. I think it is great fun to look at. :)

Wow, I just realised that your trunk and spoiler are white. That looks pretty sweet, Michael.

I liked his so much, I did it on mine. Look at the second Pearlie in my signature for a side shot. :)

Sorry for being slow to get back, I was at the Auto Show...

Steps to "tooning" your car: (Photoshop for PC)

1) Cut out the Wheels, include the wheel wells and any body parts you would like included with them. Paste this as another layer.

2) Go back to yuo "background" layer, the original photo, and transform (ctrl-t), shrink only in the width direction, leaving the height alone. Apply.

3) Bring your original "wheels only" layer to the front, highlight the individually and enlarge and place them where you would like on th car. You can trim non necessary material from the edges.

There you go. :)

Have fun!

NOTE: I also usually "lower" the car first, if necessary.
I also darkened my OE wheels before the mod.

Hmm... :(

I guess imitation is the greatest form of flattery though...

;)

That way I can tell one from the other. ;) :)
