Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
Went out and started the svx. I just woke her up from an 8 yr sleep in my garage last week...
Car started fine. After around 45 seconds the idle started to fall, and I could hear i was losing cylinders. It sputtered out and died. Restarted car. Idled fine for 10 seconds or so...Gave it a little gas and anything beyond a feather touch and it immediately began to stall. Wouldn't go above 2k in revs. Idle degenerated further, and now it won't start at all. Pulled code 11 and 22. Help? |
Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
code 11 is one of the crank angle sensors with under the alternator, code 22 s knock sensor 1 (RH).

Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
I was aware of the code look up, but thank you.
That said, a code thrown is often a side affect of something else. I find it unlikely the sensors would fail simultaneously, yes? Car attempts to start, but won't actually get there. |
Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
The crank angle sensor would be responsible for the no start. Knock sensor would have no affect on starting.
Could there be a wiring issue such as rodents during storage? |
Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
8 years no start, Damn! I'd check those spark plugs and fuel/fuel filter. You might have a squirrel in your air box too.:D

Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
Well it's really only NO START for the last.....2 years? Before that it got started twice a year for a few mile jaunt. The last two years wasn't possible.
I drove the car 5 hours south before she started acting up. I'm randomly leaning towards blaming the fuel pump....a fuel starvation issue would certainly send a knock and crank code yes? I happen to HAVE one of those sitting in a box... |
Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
If the crank angle sensor went bad it will cause knock sensor code to come up as well.
I think any way, I had a bad sensor that was causing the car to act up like that, I think mine was the cam sensor though it threw several codes. |

$200 sensor? Gotta be friggin kidding me.

Go used. car-part.com has one for $35.00.

Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
I think it's the same part as some legacy's but you will need to double check that. The other Subaru part is cheaper.

Re: Car is dead. Codes 11 and 22.
Hmm...the car ATTEMPTS to start. I read something that a bad crank sensor prevents spark?
When the starter turns over it doesn't do much, but it does um....'chugle'....fire over once or twice. |
