Level Ten rebuilding the 4EAT transmission?!?

I'm looking into an SVX, and I was thinking about buying one with a trans that is already on it's way out. I could get the car cheaper and would have Level Ten (www.levelten.com) based in NJ rebuild the transmission for me. I hear they do really good work and they've told me that with their modifications it will lower the internal temperature of the 4EAT.

Anyone have any experience with Level Ten? And is 4k (est) worth it to have them rebuild the trans and torque converter for less heat, quicker shifts, and about .5-1 sec removed from the 1/4 mile time?!

thanks.

Buying one with a bad tranny ain't a bad way to go. At least you will know what you have when you are done. Level 10 is highly recommended, even at 4K. I had a Level 10 valvebody on my other tranny, and it did real good. Nice crisp shifts. .5- 1sec. off of the 1/4 mile, I find very hard to believe. Maybe .5 with a very aggressive(harsh driving) stall on the TC.

If you are interested in a manual tranny, now would be a great time to do that as well, as many have done.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck.

I knew a guy with a level 10 transmission on his 4 banger that put out over 300hp... it performed flawlessly. Level 10 is pretty dang good.

Yeah L10 is good stuff. Mine is happy after 2 years and 15k miles.

Solid shifts, high output ATF pump, higher stall TC.

However...I would have done the 5MT swap if mine hadn't died before Huck invented the 5MT swap.

Hmmm......A 5 speed sounds a lot cooler.......I mean saying, "I have an SVX," is killer in itself.........I can't imagine saying, "I have an SVX 5-speed"

Would it run about the same amount of money? If anything I think I might have Level Ten perform the surgery because I know they do solid work. I don't know of any other shops I'd be able to trust to do the conversion. Are there any on the North East?

I don't know about shops to do it, but parts ran me about $1800. $1500 seems to the norm for installation.

That would cool if Level 10 would do the 5 spd install. Worth while to ask them.

Take a close look at the Level 10 price and what it includes. If you need a front diff or planetary gears it's extra.

Another thing about 5 spds

Keep in mind, if you switch to a 5 spd, future replacements are much cheaper than the auto. And much easier too.

If you have a fairly sound transmission, Pat at Level Ten recommends the valve body modification. It produces twice the fluid flow and elimininates the need for an external cooler.

He says he has done many trannys for customers in the Middle East and none have coolers in them.

Last time I checked it was about 900.00
