Your $100,000 car collection

Fantasy Scenario #2

Today I'm giving you $100,000 to go out and purchase a car collection for yourself! You can define your collection however you want, one exotic worth the full $100K, or maybe 25 SVXes worth $4K each. :D Whatever you buy, this is your collection and seperate from your daily driver. These are your garage queens to do with as you wish. However, I have some rules and guidelines since it's my money!

You must spend the $100K today - meaning today's street values for each of the cars. If you have links/screenshots of classified ads with pictures and prices, extra bonus!

You must take into account your current collection - if you already have "extra" cars that you don't really need, you must include their current street values as part of your $100K or give them up. At the end of the day, we are all going to have a $100K car collection, and 1 or 2 daily drivers, whatever they may be. If you are single, you can have 1 daily driver and maybe a work truck or something if it isn't anything special. If you are married, 2 daily drivers, and the possible work truck.

You can put some of the money towards modifications and/or restoration - just include it with the price of the car and describe it. IE "Subaru SVX with turbocharger and 6 speed Sti tranny - $20K"

Don't limit yourself based on insurance, license tabs, maintenance, or storage space. This is a fantasy scenario so assume none of those things are factors.

Pictures, pictures, pictures! Especially the obscure and unique stuff. As mentioned before, if you can actually get a screenshot in of an autotrader ad or something showing the picture and selling price, bonus!

Looking forward to seeing some great ideas here! :)

1 SVX? :o

Sadly our cars aren't cheap... and some of the members here have cars approaching $50k+ as far as total investment .... $100k isn't that far off...

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

Well, I already have a summer car, 1972 cutlass 442, I have posted pics before, so say that is worth about 25k in current condition.

I would then probably go with a 2005-2006 lotus elise - approx 30k, so I am down to 45k, link for the lotus, preferably in red or black. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I would like to put about 10k into my svx, new paint, RX-8 wheels, cloud skirts, 6 speed swap, or find one with these things done, and keep mine as my dd.

I would like a 2000 740il bmw for my DD. I have always loved this body style, these can be had for about 10k, so I am down to 25k. BTW Dark blue with Black interior.

I would probably like to get a 1995 Range rover classic because I think they are cool trucks, they are about 5k right now, plus 3-5k in parts, so down to 15k.

I want a 1980ish Volvo 240 DL. strange, I know, 2k for the car, 3k for paint, down to 10k.

I would probably end up spending the rest on tools/more parts for these cars, so I think thats my list

Wouldn't matter for me.. Whatever I'd buy, I'd sell shortly after to hoard the cash... :p

Okay, here it goes, in no particular order. This is a rough estimate, hence the ~ for approximations.

1) My Claret 1992 SVX (after the engine and trans projects are finished) ~12k total investment.
-Rebuilt Stock Engine with Powdercoated Block, heads, VC, etc
-Interior is already redone along with paint. :D

2) 2000~ Lotus Espirit ($25-27k)

http://kakaku.com/kuruma/images/car/Lotus_Esprit.jpg

3) 1993 Mazda RX-7 Silver with Red/Black Interior and Bose Audio. Bone Stock.
(~$17k)

I would possibly replace the Z and the RX-7 if I was able to find one of these:

Mazda Eunos Cosmo (~25k)

Im sure Im forgetting about half of my favorites... I could possibly edit this later... :o

 Nice Mike.

Me:

One SVX, modified with an $85K budget.
One fast bike. (GSX-R1000 perhaps)

Nice and simple.

Okay, you just made me think of another guideline! :D

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

Oh, I got to fiddle around with a 2008 Dodge Sprinter a couple days ago. That's got to be the quietest diesel I've ever seen/heard. Very nice vehicle all around, definitely not a Dodge. This one was from California actually, being rented by the band The Stills. Apparently Californians have no reason to instal block heaters, so on a -35 morning the van didn't want to start.

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

Wow, this is very interesting. I have a few cars that I have wanted for awhile but all of them are relatively inexpensive to get and I am a purist I would say and would probably leave them all pretty much stock.

This would pretty much take up my amount, including my legacy, my ford ranger, and of course my ebony svx : )

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

I'd use the money on a down payment for an R8.

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

No price listed, but if I could get this for less than 100k I'd be a happy man. The only non Subaru I'd ever consider, but if I couldn't find one, then I'd just have to take Earl's entire collection.;)

I saw a Martini Racing trailer on the freeway the other day, and almost wrecked into him to see what's inside. I love these cars.

Re: Your $100,000 car collection

This would be nice, however I wouldn't want it for my collection as it would never ever be driven and I believe cars are meant to be driven and not stored away. I mainly like cars that are very uncommon or complete sleepers. Can ya tell??? And even though this is very uncommon, there are too many other Formula and Trans Ams that look the same so its not for me, just thought I'd point it out.
