Rims Equivalence?

Here in Quebec, as of Dec 15, all passenger car will have to have winter tires.
I am looking for Rims in order to mount them on a permanent basis, avoiding me to have to remove the summer one and remount the winter one each fall and spring and each year. I have an SVX 1997 on 16" rims, and need to find "cheap" steel or else rim for my winter tires. Does any of you know what equivalence is there on rims that can be mounted on my SVX. What I mean, is, if I go to a recycling yard, what rims can I use? Is a Legacy, Outback, or a Forester or else rims, and what year, will be OK ? I cannot find any original used alloy rims in this part of the world, and new ones are too expensive... Thank's ahead...

Mazda Millennium would be perfect.

Re: Rims Equivalence?

No other Subaru wheels will fit, except 05+ STi 17's and Tribeca 18's. I haven't seen any generic steel wheels listed for the SVX in any of the catalogues, but a tire store may be able to figure something out. An outline of what you're looking for is 16"x7", 5x114.3 bolt pattern, between +40 and +55 offset. You can ask them to find a steel wheel that matches those specs (very possible), but they might not have one that clears your brake calipers, or fits the center hub, etc.

I think Ford Probe wheels fit, those should be cheap to get.

Thank's to you guys,
I called a few tire places as well as recyclers, and I tell you, when you ask about "off set + " not too many know what I am talking about.
I will have to go there with a tape and make my own calculation.

will keep you posted..

Re: Rims Equivalence?

Most wheels will say the offset somewhere on them, either along the outter edge of the rim, near the bolt holes, or on the backside on a spoke. Look for something that say ETxx (xx=the offset).

It looks like Suzuki SX4 and Grand Vitara will work.
