Louis's SVX #2 (possibility)

Although my current SVX isn't fixed, I'm selling quite a few musical instruments and pieces of recording equipment that I've accrued over the years and come to the realization that when it's all said and done I'll be able to comfortably afford another SVX. So... I found a black '92 SVX (I believe LSi or LSL) in Queens, NY that I'm looking to purchase. Only 83k miles, 2,400 for the car (less than my 140k!) and the tranny was replaced at 60. I figure...if two cars ends up being too many, I can always sell one of them to you guys. Either way...this seems like a good deal for only 83k miles, so if I don't end up buying it, I'll send everyone a complete report on the car including pictures to try to get it in good hands. He won't sell it to people for parts, only someone who will keep the car intact.

If you were considering parting out your first one because of the expense of a strut repair, why would you consider buying another? How can you justify the expense of two insurance polices plus maintenance on both?

About to come into some money is why.

So why would you part one of them out? :o

SVXi are EXPENSIVE to maintain. 2 SVX=2x the expense. Don't go in over your head. You'll end up with some sexy lawn ornaments.
I'm betting Earl is fairly wealthy to afford such a stable. I'm a low budget kinda guy, but I can and, will do all my own maintenance on my SVX. With a family there is NO WAY I could afford 2 of them.
My point being, if you are skeptical of affording fixing one SVX, 2 will be streching yourself too thin.

Like I said...about to get some money that I didn't expect. Also, I think I just got promoted at my job. I'll be making enough to buy a new car -- but what new car is better than an SVX?

Good point: I was recently considering getting a second SVX for the winter but really gave a lot of thought to having another car and its potential repairs. So far I have had no problem with my 6-month-old 94 SVX. My thoughts were to buy a Pearlie and fix it up over time to bring it back to its former glory. And then I shook my head and realized that I am better off keeping one SVX looking and running good rather than trying to keep two on the road. If you have the money and are handy, I'm sure it's not a problem but if you're like me poor and lazy, it's best to stick with one. Besides someone else bought the Pearlie and saved me a lot of money. LOL

a 92 all black with only 83k miles AND a new tranny -- car always lived in Virginia -- that seems too good to pass up for 2400. I might have to sell mine just to get it. Half the miles = twice the smiles.
