woo-hoo!!! getting FIOS soon....

on Wednesday i found out FIOS (Verizon's fiber optic high-speed internet) was available for my area, so i ordered it. today, the guy showed up to do the drop from the pole to the house. i get it installed in about a week, but i could have had it done sooner. i just scheduled a day when i was off.

so for $2 more per month than my DSL, i go from 3Mbps to 15Mbps. the installer told me that within the month, they will be upgrading all the 15 subscribers to 20Mbps for free. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...hark/17649.gif

damn, i thought you were country-folk. :D

they must be runnin' that fiber everywhere, but there's still alot of folks around here in the 'burbs that can't get it yet. how fast is yours? i can't imagine how fast its gonna be - my DSL is pretty damn fast (i'm 2 blocks from my local telephone switching office.) :)

Paid for, and the wet-backs haven't DELIVERED yet!! I guess that's the price I have to pay for using a faceless company that must employ 'illegals' during a strike!!

You know? That may not be such a bad idea. Any cameras in the area? :D

We have 5Mb cable here. Unlike my earlier experiences with a 1.5Mb DSL channel, the cable actually "exceeds" what it advertises. On DSL, I never broke the 1Mb barrier on the 1.5Mb advertised. No matter how much I tweaked.

I'm going to check on the fiber optics to see if it is available. I download a LOT!! Mostly Comedy channel series shows, and uhhh... examples... "samples" if you will..... of DVD movies.

The single layer style movie averages around 4.7GB. At 15Mb??? Rockin!!

I wish I knew what the rollout schedule was. I figure it'll end up in my town in about 25 years.
