Water pump failure

So lets say the water pump in your SVX goes out and takes out your timing belt with it. What kind of damage to you think that would do to the motor? I know that its an non interference motor so technically speaking the timing belt shouldn't have caused a problem but I don't know about the pump.

This didn't happen to me personally so I'm not sure if it went out quick and just broke or if it was overheating for a days or weeks before hand or what.

if the timing belt broke it will not cause any damage. the engine will simply shut down. The biggest concern would be overheating before the belt finally gave out... Could cause some serious damage and warpage if it wasn't handled properly

One of these days I'll stop asking questions, not any time soon unfortuantely though haha...

I've been searching for stuff all day, but I'm confused about something. I at least two places were members recommend using the eBay timing belt water pump package, at least the timing belt part says a dozen members are using them. THEN I think there another thread (maybe yours tom?) that says not to use any water pump but OEM or OEM rebuilts. Which one should I be going with?

OEM rebuilt or OEM. The cheap ones on ebay are not that cheap and could end up costing more in the long run
