it's almost certainly something electrical in nature, and quite possibly one of the sensors.

but just to get you started, first find all the ground points and clean them off and reattach (or replace as necessary). BTW, this is more than just the battery ground - although that's a biggie.

many intermitant electrical problems end up being a result of poor grounds.

*puts on thinking cap*

A bad CKP (crank angle sensor) signal will cause the engine to stop running. I would inspect the wire harness and try cleaning off the connector to the sensor. I believe it's located in the front of the block behind/ underneath the altenator.

I am not sure why a trouble code is not present if this is the case however.

You may also check your PCM's (engine computer) power supply and ground.

Just shooting in the dark here but I hope this helps.

Good luck

BTW, what year is your SVX?

Failing MAF sensor?

MAF would also cause a code to be stored and set the MIL (malfunction indication lamp).

Since there is no MIL present, I'm leaning tward PCM ground. As Lee suggested, check all of your grounds. Your (-) battery cable ground wires have back shielding w/ a yellow stripe.

My '92 would sometimes die while driving, with no MIP or check engine light.

I found (by wiggling the connector and trying to start it again) that I had a poor connection at the MAF connector. Haven't had that problem since soldering the wires right to the receiving pins.

But it sure was annoying to stall out while driving down the road.

I thought there should be a check engine light. Never did see one, although there is an error code for that problem.

Hope this helps you find your problem.
