largest possible wheels without modification

are r18s the tops? Which would be the best for snow clearance?

Louis.

sorry for being a n00b.

You could run a 22" rim if you could find a 225/15/R22 tire. That, however, is very unlikely. I know someone put their SVX on 20's. I think 18 is as high as you can go and still maintain some sort of practicality.

As for snow, my vote for best tire size is 205/55/16 on stock rims. You don't want super short sidewalls in a snow tire. Narrow and tall is the best, it will cut into the snow, giving you better contact with the road below.

Right now I’m running some 235/40/17 with the stock 05 sti wheels 17x8 they are the ****!!!!! Makes the car feel allot better. I have some 235/45/17 that I buy but really don't know if they will fit with my drop springs now? Anyone know?

i was looking at my bbs sti and saw that i was running 234/45/17 so that is my bad but they where use so with drop sprring go to go. got some new tires have not put them on but they are 234/45/17 (new ) soes anyone know if they are cool to run

I had 16's, 17's, and 18's on my car. Personally i did not like how the 18's felt on the road, 17's were a pretty sweet ride, 16's were a bit louder than the 17's, so i feel the 17's are ideal personally. Snow you defidently want to go with a narrower tire. If i were you, i'd get a set of 16's or 17's for winter, and if you really want something that big and don't mind the ride quality, shoot for a set of 18's or 19's for summer. You'll have more appropriate tread for the seasons, and you'll get the best performance in the summer and winter without the sacrafice of only one set of tires.

17's on my car:

16's on my car:

I like the appearnce of the 17's a bit better, but the 16's are defidenly a smoother ride.

are you kidding me? for snow? hahahaha

dude, seriously. if you put huge tires in the snow you are simply asking for them to get ****ed up. the taller and more narrow the tire, the better it cuts through snow. With a wideass tire, you will simply be sliding and ****ing up some expensive rims.

You can put any size rim on you want - if you don't mind having rubber bands for tires.

Narrower and tall sidewall is what you want for winter. Rim size doesn't matter - although at the least, you'll need 16".

Biggest wheel Id put on the car for any reason at all is 18. anything bigger takes away from the rest of the car's lines too much (Such an effect is only desirable if you car HAS no body lines) Let alont the extra weight and way too low profile tires really kill the ride quality.

For the winter, Id just put some decent 215 55 snow tires on, or good all seasons..For the summer, go ahead and toss on a nice set of 18's, and as wide of a tire as you can tuck in there

Dayle at motorsportwarehouse has installed 19" wheels on the SVX with no rubbing problems. He said they took 235-35-19 tires and the rims were 7.5" wide.
