reverse glow gauges

Anyone tried those reverse glow gauges I see on eBay all the time? Even though they've got the fuel and temp on the wrong sides, the direction of the gauges looks right. I'm thinking about getting a set but wanted some input first...

Thanks
Nate

They mount over the gauges, so I don't thing that is an issue. :)

there are many things on ebay - some should not be purchased.

I just bought some for $15 shipped and they're in the mail now. If they don't work.. darn, $15.

i got a set, they are hand made and yes the gas and temp guages are wrong, butthe tach and speedometer are perfect, the problem is they hare hand made and mine were dirty and scratched right from the package.. they came in a plastic baggy inside a padded envelope, i waited a month for a replacement and only after i complained ot paypal did i get a replacement, and the replacement set were worse than the first with a big score mark down one of the guages. thay also have a flat button on/off and not a switch or dimmer... jsut a warning. i did get a good set from a website out west that had a green to blue light changer so you can change the colors and stuff, they were far superior. i sold them to black beat instead of installing them in mine. i paid about 60 for those

so withthe $15 reverse guages id be wary... you get what you pay for i left a negative (for arguing with me about the replacement as stated in the listing, they shouldnt post things they wont back up) and have the 2 sets jsut sitting around right now. i cant even make 1 good set out of them.

though i am a tad picky about what id put in the dash considering id be looking at it all the time. some people might not mind as much as i did

There is a good set out there. Wish I could remember, but I got these things probably four years ago. They were the ones that could be changed between blue and green, and had a standalone dimmer along with the color switch. I had them wired to the instrument cluster so the factory dimmer would work. They were a pretty good set of gauges if you ask me. But I did pay like $90 for them.

sounds like the set i sold to blackbeast only i paid about 60 for mine, and in my opinion are worth every cent. id avoid the jackass selling the ones for $15 as i had already stated

I believe I got mine from motorsports warehouse. They have the blue/green option and dimmer switch. Here is the best pic I have:

Here's a picture of what I ordered off Ebay and I see now the two side gauges are reversed.. If I switch them will they still fit? Will I have to cut new holes for them?

the backs of them are lined with copper trails (like a microchip) i souldnt reccomend cutting them i would use a double side tape, the trim plate will also hold them down butthe tape will prevent slippage, i wondered if is simply switched the wiring from the temp to the fuel and visa versa would the needles read accurate on the swapped meters, (needle gearing needs ot be considered...the fuel and temps would need to be eaxctly mirrored versions mechanically to work like that) but i found my guages to not be worth putting into my car. i kept stock. the ones withthe dimmer shown abive were the other pair i purchased and were far superior. but im still looking for a set that is "just right"

the ones withthe reversed fuel and temps were the ones i really did not like.

they would work if you just installed the tach and the speedometer faces and removed the other 2. its all a matter of what you want

when you recieve the 15 dollar ones let me know if yours are scuffed and dirty from the packaging as well, im curious as to if hes gotten any cleaner in his work in the past 6 months

Ummmm, correct me if I am wrong, but the gauges are only reversed in the picture (response #9) I can tell by the holes (Fuel gauge hole on right, Temp gauge hole on left) that they are cut for the correct placement.

I believe each gauge is in a single connection and can be arranged anyway that you like. Again, the needle holes are correct inthe picture. And if you notice, these gauges are not actually in an SVX (no needles), they are just hooked to an electrical source for photo.

I'll bet you will be fine. However, if you would like to send them to me I will install them in my SVX and report back:D

R. Augur 01-29-2006 04:15 PM

I think Ricochet's gauges will be just fine......

Sir Romeo, yours sound like a different story.

Thank you for your kind offer, I pass it on to Noob.

I would be interested in seeing them if you've got pics.
