How much

I just called a dealer near Pittsburgh, PA, that has a 92 black SVX LS-L for sale. The car needs a new tranny, which they have ordered. Since it's not currently running, they haven't priced it yet, but told me they would price it and call me after they get the new tranny installed. It has about 55k miles on it. What do you all estimate the final cost to be? They already put my name and number down as a potential buyer for the car once it's up and running. So, if you all can give me a ballpark figure, I'll see what I can do :)

HUmm... new tranny. that's 3000 more. 55k for 92 is going to cost you. I am looking at at least about 7.5 if not more. But I'll try to start him off with about 5. Sounds good? Or am i being too optimistic?

According to them, they took the car as a trade, and it didn't have a functioning tranny when they got it. I assumed the cost of the tranny would just be part of the resale value and not tacked on to it. Maybe I was being too optimistic? Still, it should be what, at least 2 months before they get the tranny and have it installed, right?

if they order the tranny, the tranny will be there within a week and they can install the tranny within 12 hours -- if they have time.

Most used car lots want to move used cars off the lot as fast as they can. My friend works for one here in Denver and said if they are anything like the dealership he works for it will be installed as so as they get it. Also on the price of the car I just bought my 94 SVX off a lot in Denver in great shape. with 55,000 for $6,400 they were asking $9,999 for it but I was able to take it for a two day test drive where I took it to my own Mech and found out all the little probs. Paid 72.00 to have it looked at and it saved me thousands. Good Luck.:D
