Anti-Lock Brake warning light and buzzing noise
 

Sigh.

It was going well too.

I have done a quick search, but what does it mean when the anti lock brake light comes on and the ABS unit under the bonnet starts buzzing?

I have disconnected the battery for now, to stop the buzzing.

I assume that the unit has just self destructed.

Any positive words?

It's just a sticking ABS relay. A simple solution where you probably don't have to replace anything. If the relay needs replacing, it is very simple. Instructions and part numbers in the link below.

Don't know for sure, but I thought that, the relay was just a normal Bosch relay.

This problem just happened to me. Gave it a rap as suggested and it's fixed for now. I love it when a little aggression actually fixes a problem...

Also, this is why this site is so valuable. Got my $ worth annual dues and it's only March. Thanks for the resource.:)

Wow, had to pull the ABS fuse for this on Friday and haven't found time to diagnose. I bet my problem is exactly the same because the pump kept running even with the ignition off.

I pulled the fuse and it kept going! So I ran in to the computer and looked it up. fixed in 5 minutes.

You pulled the 45 amp fuse and it still kept running?

No. Pulled the 20 amp ABS fuse. It kept buzzing with engine off.

Had it happen again, except I did not hear it and it drained the battery. Thinking I should replace it.
