MOVIT brakes

For those of you who tried to purchase the MOVIT brakes off the SVX that was for sale by a member here, you might be happy he would not sell them separately.
I purchased the 96 SVX, with 93,000 km on it in October, complete with the MOVIT front brakes. The brakes are amazing, you can stop real quick and no fade at all.
Now for my only issue with them, I need to replace the rotors and pads. So I contact MOVIT in Germany. They need a special number off the brakes or the original invoice, I send them the special manufacturing code off the brakes and they can then get the spec's for the brakes and give me a cost. For 2 new front rotors and new pads, almost 1000 Euro's or $1600.00 cdn or $1300.00 USD!
They also "highly recommend" that you change your front wheel bearings at the same time "to insure your brakes work perfectly", not much for the parts but 5.2 hours labor.
Real nice brakes, but owning a SVX is expensive enough without this added major expense. Just thought I'd let you all know....ya I sent the money to them, they will start to manufacture them this week, every order is a special.

Just get a big brake kit from me... Willwood 6 piston or Willwood 4 piston calipers. A whole new brake kit would cost you about the same as just your rotors and pads...

Gee thanks, now you tell me :) I've already wired the money to their bank...next time the rotors go I'll be hunting you down, the MOVIT brakes are an extreme price that I will only pay once. I could have bought a parts car for this kind of money. And this just after I bought a set of Koni's with new mounts and powder coating(the SVX cores) for $2000.00...I must say All WE'LL Drive did a great job on them, highly recommended as I'm sure you all already know.

Why do you need to replace the rotors?

Re: MOVIT brakes

From what my son tells me (he's an auto mechanic) I get this sever shuttering on occasion in my steering wheel (while not using the brakes just driving), that is caused by the pads hitting the rotors and the backside of the rotors have almost wavy ridges on them now. It seems with MOVIT sport rotors (made for Lamborghini's) the pads ride 1mm from the rotors so the front bearings must be perfect, if not you will wreck the rotors and get this shuttering problem. So he figured I should get new rotors, pads and front bearings and these beasts will be perfect once again. I know it's easy for him to say buy new stuff since I'm paying...I'm sure if it was his car he'd find a way to fix things a whole lot cheaper.:)
