SubaruJawn,

You had ALL of your calipers fail?

.

Re: Caliper Failure(s)

Not necessarily a failure but I noticed that my left rear is sticking at times. Enough that the pad is down to the backing plate while the other side has about half the pad left. Good thing I've got a bucket of calipers :p

Fail or require replacement??? There's a difference.

None of mine have failed. However most of them have been replaced during maintenance.

Re: Caliper Failure(s)

You need to add the choice to select "No Failures" in your poll. Otherwise the poll assumes that at least one caliper has failed on every SVX.

Also add choice for total thread failure.

Do you mean total CALIPER failure?

.

Re: Caliper Failure(s)

As in needing replacement and/or rebuilding... a failure is a failure, intermittent or not... just like this topic/thread apparently. How can this poll turn into something far more difficult than it really is? I am not assuming a caliper has failed on every SVX either. (had to double check to make sure I was on the right forum for a minute)

...and now for total thread fail for the win.... :WTF:

Re: Caliper Failure(s)

I had a front brake hose fail .hose collapsed. when I applied my brakes the caliper squeezed in the hose collapsed and the pucks stayed in contact until it worked free or wore. we blamed it on a bad caliper. Never had one fail 17 years 78,000 miles.

I dont know about calipers failing, but rotors never warp. PM immortal_suby for details, or ask Carroll Smith.

My calipers appear to be fine. Brake wear seems even and predictable.

Wondering what happened to Jawn's car.

Re: Caliper Failure(s)

never had a caliper fail on any car. it rarely to never happens if you keep your fluid and brakes in good condition.
