Blown RH fan fuse?
It seems the Right Hand fan fuse blows out for some reason. It is very puzzling becasue everything works okay for sveral days or weeks and then it just blows out. The fuse actually melts. I mean the plastic around the metal parts of the fuse melt. Also the metal insert leg on the engine side melts into two pieces. When I pull out the fuse I have to get a pick to get the piece out. It has blown so bad that the plastic holder around the fuse has melted too.
This seems very abnormal to me. Any ideas? |
Passanger side fan?
I would start looking at the wiring on the fan. If it has been removed before or several times the wiring closest to the motor may have been nicked. It happened to mine. A littl electrical tape and you are back in business.
The easiest way to get the right hand side fan assembly out is by going out the bottom. I would start there and if that is not it then it is time for the VOM. Happy times!!! Steve |
I took out the fan and put electrical tape on it even though I did not see any cracks. Then I switched it with the LH fan. So it will either be fixed or start blown the LH fuse or still blow the RH fuse.
:) Thanks |
Well my fan fuse has been holding its' own for two weeks. :)
The other thing I did was to clean out around the contacts in the fuse box for the fuse. There were some small pieces of metal mixed into the melted plastic of the box taht I had not seen before. I used small reaming wires to do this by pushing the wire into the bottom of the box until it came thru the bottom. |
