Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
I read a number of postings about headlight cleaning products. I needed to clean mine to get the car registered. I thought I would share the process and the results. It was a low cost and effective solution.
The pic on the left is the headlights when I got home. The pic on the right is after I used 1500g then 2000g wet and dry followed by Menzerna Intensive Polish using an RO on white pad then Insta Finish Polish on Grey Pad then buffed with microfibre cloth. Hand applied Duragloss polish then buffed with microfibre cloth. Hard to tell in the photo but it delivered a really good result. The issue now is will they stay that way? http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...10103Small.jpghttp://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...10115Small.jpg |
Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Looks good - but I am curious..........
........Australian delivered SVXs came standard with glass headlights, that should never go cloudy! As well, I notice the US-spec turn signal light in the corner! Is your SVX a JDM import? If so, I would like to know what the other differences are! :) Jason. |
Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
hmm I was noticing the flat black bumper, and thought perhaps it was a frankenstein car like my own.

Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
I think his is glass and that's why it's just cloudy and not old man finger nail yellow like all of ours get. His before pic still looks better than a lot of ours...lol

Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Yeah did the ol sand n polish as well a few weeks back and was delighted to uncover that I had projection style headlights . I wanted a SVX for the longest time and finally picked up my good condition '92 for $1100 at a charity auction. Im still finding more reasons to love this car!

Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Hi Zavikan, I really dislike the bumpers. The car goes in for a full dent removal and respray later this week which will include stripping the bumpers back to metal then having them color matched.

Hi Harvey
The VIN is JF2CXWAR0EH002148 I would be interested to know what information you can glean from the VIN. Cheers Col |
Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Here are a couple of pics before it goes in for significant dent removal and a respray. It had been very badly neglected. I was tossing up between black on burgundy but have decided to go all burgundy.
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...0222Medium.jpg Have to love those panel lines. Unfortunately keft rear wheel is around the wrong way. I might have to start looking for a replacement rim or different rims. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...10198Small.jpg |
Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Hey is that the one that was owned by a lady driver advertised a while ago? i'm thinking that it had some accident damage and theyve used a jdm front cut to repair it ?

Re: Cloudy Headlight Cleaning
Yes it was owned by a lady for the past 7 years and as a result has heaps of shopping dings on the panels.
