This is why I need a diff lock

I have a couple of mobil phone video of my SVX trying to climb a sand dune and you can see why I need diff lock. Please don't beat me up for treat the SVX badly I must be doing some thing right with it, the engine will get to 500,000k. Some one might need to convert the file to a more friendly type. You can see the 2 files in my locker.

I think you need more clearance and less diff lock.

Now..Im no expert, nor sis I stay at a holiday inn express last night..but I think that having most of the wheels off the ground could be effecting your traction a bit. As far as how you're driving....part of me cringes a bit, but the rest of me is bewildered as a kid with a matchbox car in a sandbox:cool: the svx is no diffrent than any other subaru as far as off road heritage goes. If you dont believe me, google the results of the 1991 alcan rally

They play in Quicktime for anybody who's struggling to get them to work.

I thought I was harsh on the SVX!! Tony takes the cake.

Now people can see the SVX is a tough car, I am taking it throught the centre of Austrlia on a 7,000 k trip on dirt & sand in two weeks time to a place call Lake Eyre. Its so deserted you are lucky if you see one car per day out there. Even though the car has near 400k on it I still trust it to get me there and back no problem. If it doesn't and you break down in the desert you are basiclly F***.

Wow. That's... wow.

Someone off-roaded my SVX before I owned it and it's totally trashed, so you must be doing something right...

That didn't look too rough, but you could use some more tire.

Dessertrunner 05-01-2007 07:52 PM

Good point Matt I will change it tonight. As regards tyres I run light truck which have a higher ply rating. For this trip I will carry 2 Standard tyre plus 2 small spares, 60 litre of spare fuel and 40 litre of water. I need to be able to get 1,000 k with out stopping for fuel just in case there is a problem. To fit the tyres into the car I have to remove the back seat and put them in there.
