New member w/?'s - Boston area

Am taking delivery of stock SVX 1992 teal green / 115K. Current owner reports of recent difficulty shifting from N to any gear (owner's solution = push "manual" button) also reports a new rumble from rear right (bearing?). Have scanned site for SVX savy "wrenches" in my area. Only name that has popped up is the Subaru dealership in Lexington Mass; mentioned as OK but not with praise. Can anyone identify a skilled mechanic for these rare machines in my area? I would be willing to dirve an hour for the right mechanic/shop. Would also like to source tranny fluid aux. cooler; suggestions on supplier/ kit???

Also area members be aware that Japanese Car day is Oct. 5, a Sunday at the Museum of Transportantion, (http://www.mot.org/index_static.html)

I hope to be there with the car. If I have problems my son will be there with his blk RSX/s. Hopt to see some SVX's there!

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer.

Tri-State in Webster (Jct rts 395 & 16) has a service dept that really knows the SVX also, they've hosted NE SVX meets there for us. Ask for Dave Eastty, Svc Mgr @ 508/943-7070. Tell him you're in this SVX group.
To get there take Mass Pike West out of Boston to exit 10 (Auburn). Take 395 South to exit 2 in Webster - you'll see Tri-State on your left. It's about 60mi or so.
I might make it to Larz Anderson for that Japan Day. If so, hope to see you there...I have a '92 Pearlie with 5-spoke alloys and blue calipers.

Welcome to the site James, I'll second what Dan said, Tri-state is one of the few Suby dealers around willing to admit that the SVX existed. They should do you good. What is this Jap car day thing all about? Where abouts is it gona be? (to lazy to look for myself)

I have to agree, I went to tri-state webster a year ago for the meet there and the guys there are really nice, and know what they are talking about.

Japanese Car Day - Boston

First thanks to Dan, Subafreak and Jerad for their recommendation for service techs at Tri-state Subaru.

Subafrek asked for more info on Saturday, October 5, 2003 Japanese Car Day at the Museum of Transportation at Larz Anderson park. I have attended German Car day, the BMW Concorse and Porsche-Fest so far this year. I know my son's RSX club plans to attend. Some events are judged, others are by popular vote. Awards depend on sponsor/orginization.
