SVX @ Limerock Today

Well folks, to all those who said the SVX is a luxury car and can't be raced or tracked... Yous are dead wrong! :)

I was up at limerock today racing my '92 SVX. Totally stock except for:

metal master pads
SS Lines
Raceconcepts Slotted/dimple drilled rotors
ATF Cooler

Had an aswome time running it. Did 46 laps on the track during 4- 20 minute sessions. The car ran flawlessly and had at least 3-4 people come over to my pit afterward asking what modifications I had done to let me chase down GSR Integras and ITRs in the turns and on the front straight!

Pics will be up shortly! :)

I'm totally hooked!

As one of those 'folks,' I'd like to say in my defense that I never said that the SVX couldn't be raced. I believe I was with the chorus of people saying that it wasn't meant to be raced.

It's not a sports car - it's a touring car.

I have no doubt that you had fun racing your SVX, and I'm glad that you did. I look forward to the pictures.

Well FYI, Limerock is actually a touring car/GT circuit.

And who says its not a sports car? :)

Mike, what does it cost to run your own car up there?

Paisan 11-12-2002 03:55 PM

We ran with NASA Northeast which cost $150 + you needed to be a member. Well worth it for 45+ laps + classroom instruction + in car instruction. The 4 25min sessions were great.

We did a whole weekend of auto-cross + track day + some back roads driving in MA.

Mike,
You ought to pop the grill out when you run, it'd let a lot more air in to the radiator......just a thought.

...ok, I read yer story, I looked at yer pictures and I * Am * Thoroughly * Jealous *!*! Jeez Louise, not only did you get to run your very own car, not only did you get access for a mere one-fifty, not only did you get forty-odd laps, but you got to do it at *Limerock*, one of the most storied road circuits in the US?!?! Get outta here! I hate you, but in a really good way! (I'd drop in the next one except it's, oh I don't know, 3000 miles away?!?)

(three questions: what is NASA Northeast, pls? what's your opinion of the race concepts slotted dimple-drilled rotors (a) compared to stock / normal driving (b) running Limerock at speed? was it as fabulous as I can only imagine it could be?)

i live near limerock!, well 45 min to an hour, my dad works at the hospital near there, sharon hospital. thats interesting i thought so anyway...nice pics

NASA is like SCCA except they focus on road-course racing and time trials rather than Auto-x. Great organization.

Limerock was fabulous! Guys in Honda-tech.net were there and a supercharged GSR was giving me props over there for following him! That totally made me feel great.

The course was excellent, especially for beginners. The Race Concepts Rotors were excellent, no fade even after doing 25 minute sessions! I also have their SS Lines as well. The Axxis Metal Master pads I bought worked excellent as well. The originals that I took off were horrible, but I think it's cause the rotors were shot to begin with when I bought it. I actually haven't done the rears yet, but they are in the works before I head to VIR (Virginia Internation Raceway) in February. Also put in Valvoline Synthetic Fluid as well.

Worth the $160 for the set of rotors! :)

Huck,

On the grille, I might do that, but I don't know if I want to run the risk of getting a stone tossed into the radiator :( I'm gonna run Water Wetter in the future though.
