Guys most of the things discussed over here are already done in the past, can't you give us (the new guys) a hand with few things ? if not just say no :(

... they are helping you... if you do a search, you'll find about 3-4 VERY lengthy threads about it...

i think "njboys808" was the one that actually did it. then he sold the car. it can be done, but from his account, looks like it isn't cheap/easy... but go for it

The lambo door conversion simply will not work well with a SVX. It has been done with varoius levels of success. But in the end, nobody is realy happy with it. First, the SVX doors are Realy heavy and rather oversized. This would require perty stiff struts to aid in lifting. Not to mention, swinging lambo style, its near imposssable to get the doors to swing open wide enough to get in and out of the car with ease.
Second, shape of the door and the body lines cause problems with getting the door to open and shut flush with the body. As has been said, It has been done, but its not worth it.

I hate to say it, but do a search and check the threads on this subject. You will find good pictures and decent writeup on the intall.

I agree with you about one thing, the doors are very heavy, one SVX door is heavier than both the front and rear bumpers !!, but mounting very heavy struts can help a lot. also I think one can do a mechanism allowing the doors to open like 90 degrees.. so you say it is not worth trying?? :(

Its worth trying! Its just going to be one pain in the @ss to get it working correctly. Ive seen your ride, and I know your more than capable of fabricating what you need. I say go for it! But be warned, you have alot of blood sweat and cursing ahead of you.

:D  :D

This kit can be tweaked to work on the svx.

godspeed94 12-20-2004 05:51 PM

vertical doors in Cali can make a lambo door kit for the SVX for $1450 shipped. It will be a direct bolt on with only mod to the wire harness in the door.

Do they have a website? If they have a picture of an installed unit that would help out some folks :)

If there is a kit that shuts like factory and allows ease of entry/exit then I would be interested.

mmm, can we ask them??
but though $1500 is still very much compared to other cars.
over here is no more than $800 for any car kit (they import them)

godspeed94 12-21-2004 06:00 AM

the web site is www.verticaldoors.com. A couple months ago I asked if they had a kit, and they will make one to fit. They offer kits that will give the widest opening for entering. They will get an SVX and build the kit, Because the kit is not common the cost is high.
