Assistance needed in Phoenix

I'm looking at purchasing a '94 Laguna Blue LSI located in Phoenix, however, I don't have the ability to visually inspect the car (because I live in North Idaho). Here is what I know about the car: everything is working well (at least that's what the owner is telling me) except for the transmission (which isn't functioning properly). What I don't know is what EXACTLY is wrong with the tranny (could be anything from simple differential problem to full-blown transmission). The owner also tells me that the car is not driveable.

If there is anybody in the Phoenix area that would be williing to go check out the car and see what exactly is wrong with it, I would greatly appreciate it. I am also willing to pay you for your time and services ($50.00). I would preferably like somebody with mechanical skills in order to determine which mechanical components of the car are in need of service or repair.

Let me know if you are willing to help. Thanks.

Howdy sir.

I live only two hours away from Phx and have been meaning to get down there to buy some In-n-Out. The only thing preventing me from going is the fact that I just found out my CV boot was ripped (again). Once I figure out how to fix that I should be able to hop on down there and check her out. May even have a digital camera that I can bring along too.

Lets see, as far as I know I have Wednsday and next Monday off. If I can get this sucker fixed (and the half shaft looks okay) I could get down there as soon as Monday but it might not be until my next day off which would be sometime next week.

How soon are you looking to buy this car?

Phoenix in the house

Hi. I live in PHX. I'd be willing to check it out for you. I know a good amount about cars, but I'm really not sure what I'm gonna be able to deduce about the transmission without driving it. What were you looking for? Visible leaks, broken components?? Gimme some more details through PM or right here if you'd like. Flagstaff SVX...if you're coming down anyway feel free to contact me. Come on a Sat. night and we can go show off the SVXs at the weekly car show in Scottsdale.

I'm looking for anything and everything. Like I said before, the transmission isn't functioning properly so I'd like to know what is wrong with it (be it a leak, or a broken component). The car is not driveable so you would need to figure out a way to find out what's wrong w/ the tranny without driving it. These are all the details that I know of. Call me and we can discuss this in greater detail. (208) 885-7943.

Does anyone know of a transmission specialist that I can go to in Phoenix? I am tempted to go to AAMCO (despite the horror stories) because they offer such a great warranty and because they have a few AAMCOs near my home in North Idaho.

I may just end up towing the SVX to my house but I would rather drive it here to avoid the towing costs. thanks guys (and gals).

Aamco, my 2nd and (currently) 3rd tranny are/were Aamco. I hold a grudge. :(

Every day I'm amazed that my transmission still works.

My two cents. Want it bad enough and the price is right, Fine get it. But either pay a vehicle shipping company to get it to you, or U-Hual it back. Do not AAMCO the transmission. They know about as much about 4EAT trannies as... well you do the math. Best option is to buy a Subaru Facotry TSB rebuilt tranny and lap it in there. You will get a 1 year 12K mile warrany minus your labor. IF you pay a Subaru shop to install it I think your labor is covered on the warranty as well. And when I say Subaru shop, I mean the spawn of evil Dealership. I just happen to have a good working relationship with mine cause I worked there for almost 2 years.
