New SVX Term: PPP

Upon leaving my parking spot at work today, I noticed a "PPP" (Pretty Pink Puddle). So, instead of cleaning up the car tomorrow, I'll search for the leak that I have in the transmission that was in the shop for 23 days, that SHOULD be leak free. GRRRRRRR!!!! I'm being punished.

Something you'd like to confess to, my son? ;)

long count

I have found that if I count to 10 before I do something after becoming stressed out, it will help me from doing something I will be sorry for later. Looking at the last month of your experiences, maybe you should count to 50 or so. Good luck finding the source of the PPP.

Actually, I can't count as high as I need to, to get over my stress level (even with my shoes off).

My confession, Fr. Beav, is that I've used extremely foul language and considered murder during this ordeal.

On a 'better' note, I checked out (as best I could in the pouring rain), the source of my PPP. Seems to be eminating from the belly pan (or, as Subaru calls it, "The Under Cover" I LOVE that term :) ). Here's my hope: they told me that one of my aux tranny cooler hoses had been leaking when they brought it in, so, I hope it was just some accumulated fluid dripping out of the "Under Cover." The second scenario would be that they told me about the hose, but failed to tighten in up over the MONTH FREAKIN' LONG PERIOD THEY HAD MY CAR!!!! (Sorry, I have these fits occasionally these days -- I'm calm again).

At any rate, couldn't get under the car today because it was "pissin' and pourin'" (I need a garage!!). I did check the fluid, after driving into town to collect some for the possible eventuality that it had drained a quart or more -- the good news: the fluid was full. So, if it clears tomorrow, I shall take a closer look. Meanwhile, I -- AM -- ENJOYING -- DRIVING -- MY --- SVX!!!

A couple possibilities:
1) They over-filled the tranny and the excess 'vented' through the vent.
2) The weak hose is about to let loose, catastrophically.
3) They missed placing a sealing washer under one of the hoses.
4) Maybe someone forgot to tighten the drain plug.
5) I'm a complete idiot for thinking I could cover all the what-ifs in three lines or less.... ;)

Cross off number 4. It's the first thing I checked. I had also considred number one (since the fluid looked a little "over full" on the stick).

I'll check the others tomorrow when I can pull it up on the ramps.

Dont your ramps slide in the snow like everyone else's? ;) You certainly are dedicated.

We didn't get any accumulation.

Leak found to be in the rear cover of the tranny.

Didn't sleep all night trying to decide to take it back and tell them to FINALLY fix it.

After much angst, decided they SHOULD fix it and fix it soon so that I can bid them an unfond adieu.

Dropped it back off at the shop this morning.

They'll have to pull the effing transmission again.

Don't know when I'll get it back.

Am depressed, frustrated and angry.

Won't be posting for a while.

Beav, gosh darnit. Just when you've sold me on being "vile" and "crusty," you go and do something nice like that. :D

Thank you for the offer. I'm hoping it won't come to that. I'll keep it in mind, though.

Thanks again.

My fingers are crossed for ya, but if needed don't hesitate.

at least the problem area was found and is fixable without cost to you. a thought in passing was that it could also have been power steering fluid. that has happened to me, i thought for sure a car was leaking atf when it was in fact a power steering hose. keep it in mind when ya see red.

One question---
It wasn't AAMCO was it?

It just struck me - South Grand Junction, right? Geez, that's been buggin me, I was thinking more toward Grand Mesa until it finally sunk in. I used to live in Evergreen (dangerously close to Denver) but I travelled all over the state as time permitted.

Welcome!

Beav
