hi, i have a 5 speed transmition in my car. since a do the swap, i have the cel 38
38-


Engine torque control

Wiring harness between ECU and TCU is in short circuit

i have to tap in the wiring to *bypass the tcu?
somebody have done this swap?

Unplug the TCU. You don't have to do anything else.

i done that during the swap, but do you know if i have to tap in the ecu a wire to remove the cel?

I never had that problem with my swap so I didn't bother doing it but this is from Huck369's write-up:

And this has to be done Y. What if it is not done ? What will happen ? I have to check and see if mine was done.

This does not need to be done. It is something leftover from the early days of 5mt swaps that turned out not to be necessary.

Just remove/unplug the TCU (and sell it to some fool with an auto).

OP: what year is your car? Must be OBD 1 since the code is a small number like 38. A 96 or 97 cannot have an MT without throwing a CEL with the stock ECU.
