OT- US buys Ozze Holden Monaro!
The new coupe Holden Monaro has been rebadged to be the new Pontiac GTO. See it at a dealer near you.
Supercharged 3.8 lt V6 or a balls and all V8. See how Aussie's build a US car. Harvey. |
Aussie cars
Having lived down under from '83 - '88, I always liked the Holdens. I have a Mitsubishi Diamante wagon built in Oz that is very well put together...

Unfortunately the Monaro looks like about 5 or 6 or 10 other cars out on the road, and I think that's too bad. One thing about the SVX is it proves you can design a unique looking car that doesn't look out of date a year after its release.

Pontiac keeps on screwing up.
It's great to see the GTO name coming back into play in a V8 rear wheel drive form. However, I'd rather see the Trans Am stay around than have a new GTO. It is lighter and a bit more powerful (WS6's or Firehawk's 325HP compared to the Monaro's 305HP). Plus, there is that "stand out like a sore thumb" menacing look of the Trans Am... love it or hate it, like the SVX, and I love it!:)
Pontiac needs to get rid of all these retarded cars they are flooding the market with (namely the Aztek and that Vibe thing), and keep their one truly awesome car (Transd Am). Adding another GTO is a step in the right direction (I liked those Holden's with LS1's ever since I ran accross one while looking at LS1 cars on the net). Apparently they can't produce a good looking car themselves... they needed to use a Holden. |
i like the holden monaro.
i think the car has clean lines and ample power. once the gm boys get a hold of it i am sure there will be a mustang eater version put together. anyway i think it is a step in the right direction. bob lutz is supposed to clean thinks up at pontiac......so far so good. :)
