My 'power' light doesn't work anymore.

Anyone know why my powerlight would go out? It worked the first day I had it, and ever since its never lit up again. I don't get it. Any tips?

Powerlight is something that your car learns from you. If you keep punching it, the car will expect to you to do it so it will try to do it for you. If it is already doing it for you, there will not be a light.

96 power light/econ light

I know that the 96s have the power light but it doesn't work. I can see it when the sun hits it just right. But I saw a knew one the other day..the econ light...whats that?

That's the opposite of the power light. The euro spec models had a feature which allowed you to control the power/econ modes with a switch. You were either in ECON mode or POWER mode. You're seeing a light that would be there on a european spec svx.

econ

I still can power mode even though the light doesn't reflect that. Can I also econ it without knowing it, or is that strictly a euro thing that takes a switch.

duh

Never mind I figured it out. Its always in the econ mode unless you power mode it.

Yep, had the "power" light in my '88 XT6.

After ~95 on non-SVX 4EATs they got rid of the light. Now the "power mode" aka holding the gears to redline is not conveyed to the driver but the tranny still does it.

I think i recall someone posting here that recently bought a forester and it had the power light. Dont remember who that was though. maybe they will read this and respond.

Weird. Nevermind it came on again last night. I don't get it. So basically, the car learns how you drive ,and if it ISNT expecting it it'll show the power light when I punch it? Weird. Anyway, seems like it has its own brain sometimes. Kinda creepy.

I don't think any foresters in the US had the power light.
