I want serious opinions

I want to know exactly how everyone in the US thinks of Canada and especially their position in this war.

I'll explain why later. Someone at work brought something to my attention and it scared me.

i am for the war, and i am for taking saddam out of power, the last thing we need right now is for nothing to happen and have another hitler on our hands

it is sad that people will have to die because of him, but that is the path that he chose, and he will have to die with his decision.

i plan to go to one of the local pro war rally's that are being held at the municipal building one of these days,

Remember this is specifically about Canada. Please be completely honest as well.

I think Canada's going along with Middle East propaganda rather than believing good ol' Western propaganda. Saddam (or whoever the heck is in charge over there now) keeps pulling these outrageous stunts against his own citizens, not to mention his enemy (Hey, that's me!), and the whole world is saying, "Cheese, Ameribrits! Just because it's a war, doesn't mean you have the right to shoot and bomb and stuff."

I dont have any negative feelings about Canada whatsoever.

I'm not sure about the Canada/war issue. I don't disagree with Canada's position to the same extent that I do France's. (Yeah, that sounded clear).

I like visiting Canada, since you have Death by Chocolate, nice scenery, better prices on most things (except gas) and my sister is in grad school up there. I find it frightening to drive in Vancouver, people expect me to make a left turn in front of oncoming traffic, and when I do, oncoming traffic actually yields.

no animosity towards Canada here. i'm sure there are some idiots up there, but there are idiots here, too. i wouldn't hold a grudge against an entire country (well, maybe just France.);)

Canada is a democracy. Democracies have the freedom to choose. If someone chooses a different course or opinion than we do....well, that's democracy! People are free to take to the streets to express their feelings, for or against a government's decisions.....something they can't do in Iraq.

My best friend is married to a wonderful Canadian girl. Jean and I enjoy hearing her take on things Canadian and American...

(why are citizen of the USA "Americans" and the Canadians....well, CANADIANS? I guess "United Statesians" sounds a bit weird....)

Canada? Thumbs up. We need friends who are not afraid to take a different course and make us think about our decisions.

Just don't get me started on France.....

Canada is another country, just like Mexico and they normally do not get involved in almost anything.

As for the war, I am for it but I still think they screwed up with timing and the deployment issues. US may still win the war but they should have gone in will all the forces and crush them rather than slowly doing it. Also, I totally disagree with US what US is trying to do with the country after the war.

My feeling is disappointment that they did not back the US. :( If Canada was in a similar position, I am sure we would be there to support them.

Chicane 03-29-2003 10:38 AM

I heard that Canada was considering legalizing pot. They should do that.

That about sums up my feelings about Canada.

FifthElement 03-29-2003 11:15 AM

Canada would be nothing without the U.S. If Canada does not believe that, they are fooling themselves.

I don't blame Canada for not wanting to get involved in a war in Iraq. First of all, how would they get all their horses overseas? And even then, the horses would have one hell of a time walking through the sandy land.

Canada and war

I'm with the Canadians. BOBB

Disagree with thier position but honor their opting out of the action.

There was an interesting article in the national review a few months ago on "Why I hate Canada" You should be able to research it.

And I'm married to one for 15 yrs.

Earthworm 03-29-2003 07:23 PM

Ok, the reason I started this thread was that I found out that I know someone whose relative recently drove down to Minneapolis and while there their car had the windows smashed and a message was spray-painted on the side saying something along the lines of "Get back to Canada".

That was very disgraceful and can be considered a form of terrorism.

I've also heard that there are businesses in the U.S. refusing to ship to people in Canada.

This makes me angry and yet scared because I don't want to have to worry if I'm still going to have a car every morning during the entire Reading trip.
