Let's talk Brembo 4 pots
Ok... We found out the brembos bolt to our hub. The 5x114.3 rotor also lines up with the caliper on the hub. the dilema is that the caliper is held away from the rotor too much. Thanks to Jman050 I was able to measure what we have here and I know what we will need to make the 4 pots work.
The stock Sti rotor is about 12.8" in diameter... Not too shabby. The stock Sti caliper is .510 inches or 12.95mm too tall for the Sti rotor. SO this means we need a rotor to be 1.02 inches wider in diameter or 25.90 mm. Do some research for me and try and find a rotor with the same offset dimensions as the Sti with a diamter of 13.83 inches in diameter with at least 60mm of surface area. It needs to be 30mm thick too. tom |
I checked DBA's database and they don't list any 352mm rotors with a 53mm height 30mm thickness and 58mm center with 5 lugs. I sent them an Email asking if we could find them. I will let u know more when I do

I posted up over at the Grassroots Motorsports board, I'll let ou know if I learn anything...

tom maybe we can have them made,?
did we find out if the 350z//evo//sti are all the same brembo caliper part#s? |
Thats not as far off as I expected. But hopefully we can find a rotor solution and open up our brake possibilities.
|
Does that .51 inches really not allow us to use a 17inch wheel?
|
well... it is even going to be close on 18''s. If it is .51" further our it is .1" closer to a 18" wheel than they are on the Sti with 17"s

yeah I just had no idea the clearance was that close on an sti. It was a dumb question:o
|
There's a possibility I could be talked out of my wheels. Probably not but maybe. It's time for tires. I seem to remember wanting to try a particular tire that only came in the size i wanted for 17's.

Someone has got em... I need the dimensions to the Sti caliper from Brembo... where can I find those??
Tom |
Someone has the correct size rotors? although it will prob be no use to me its nice to hear. I just cant afford to take the loss on the rotas and brand new kumho MX that i just bought in 17s with under 200 miles on them to buy 18's with even more expensive tires and then drop another $200+ on bigger front rotors.
I'm going to try and find a way to drill new mounting holes closer to the hub or cut, shorten, and re-weld the mounting arms on the svx in order to make these fit under 17s. |

Would 355mm work? Most of the big brake upgades for the STi use a 355mm, and I'm sure you could probubly get the rotor by it's self. |
possibly but there may be clearance issues on the caliper
Tom |
What about custom rotors according to our specs? Maybe a group buy?
