Rebuilt tranny question

I had my tranny rebuilt about 5k miles ago. As part of the rebuild they installed an in line transmission filter, not a cooler. As i have become more familiar with the characteristics of this tranny i have noticed that the rpm's are a bit above normal when first starting out, especially high way driving. i.e. when cruising at 70 mph the rpm's will be 2.5k. However after about 10 min the transmission will seem to down shift and return to the normal 2.25k or so rpm level. Is this something that i should be concerned with? My thoughts are that the atf isn't warmed up enough. Not sure if that even makes a difference. I let the car warm up for at least 10 min whenever i start it up before driving. I just wanted to see what you guys though. Thanks in advance. Chris

probably normal. The ATF has to hit around 150 degrees F before the torque convertor lock-up will occur. When it does the rpms drop by a couple hundred rpm.

Even before that the tranny must reach 50°F before it will shift into 4th.

so this tranny behavior won't be prematurely wearing other transmission parts?

nope, designed that way - and preventing lock-up until the fluid is warm isn't unusual for an auto box, lots of companies use it.
