Weird question, I think

Okay, I have this friend that parted out an SVX, real top-notch guy, I bought a set of speakers from him. Anyway, he still has the engine, and would like to use it for a homemade airplane. He would like to know if anyone here has experience or knows someone with experience with this sort of thing so he can discuss his project and get some pointers. Here's the e-mail he sent me:

"Actually, there are a significant number of Subaru engines in homebuilt airplanes. They are by far the most popular of any engine conversions for aircraft. This comes about as the Subaru engines have forged cranks that are nitrited and and laid out in the horizontally opposed configuration as are aircraft engines. They have proven to be very relaible and produce good power. The SVX engine however, has been used but not nearly as much as the other 4 cylinder types. This is because of the cost and the availability more than anything else. I know there are some guys out there that are doing the same thing I am but haven't been able to find them as yet. Would love to compare notes and stuff with them. I am haveing the heads re-worked and a cam maker is R&D ing a set of cams for a little more power. I am ceramic coating the combustion chambers, valve heads, exhaust ports, and piston tops as well as porting and polishing. I can hardly wait to get the heads back. I have even thought of producing some for re-sale. Let me know if you come up with anyone doing the "airplane thing" with this engine."

I've never heard of such a thing before, so I'm of no use to him. Of coarse, I hate planes, so that probably explains it. So, if anyone would like to get in on this, PM me and I'll send you the guy's e-mail. Thanks.

There's also a company, I believe somewhere in the northwest, which converts Subaru engines for aircraft use. They'll sell you a complete EG33, ready to run, for somewhere around $30k.

Here's a guy who put an EG33 in a plane and actually posted some photos of it:

Another...I wonder if he ever completed it:

And tis guy more thoroughly details his conversion and why he made the choices he did:

There is a small company that make/build planes and I was told that they can buy the new H6- 3.0 direct from SOA.
