Whatever happened with headlamps
The threads on German glass assemblies and custom plexi covers seem to have petered, if you'll excuse the expression, out. What's up?
Que pasa? What is being done, if anything, about yellowing lenses? -in the dark! |

no need for wet sanding, simply get some plastic cleaner and polish and go to work. If you're feeling up to it, try doing the inside of the lens too! Pics are in my locker.

Anyone know if that one company is ever going to make "Crystal Clear Headlamps"?

I beleive "that one company" you are referring to is me. If so, the answer is no. Not enough interest to cover the project. It would take about 200 sets to be able to keep the price down under $500 a set and only about 5 people were seriously interested. If you were referring to someone else, then I don't know ;) Doug |

do a search for eagle one scratch remover, that stuff works really good.

Wasn't smallcar.com going to produce these glass headlamps?

isn't anyone who is registered here a glassblower? :D

They can't be blown, they have to be cast because of the shape. Then they have to be annealed so they won't crack over every bump. It is far cheaper to just buy new German Glass headlights. Doug |

I had a date once and she...uh...nevermind. For $20 a local garage took the cataracs off mine. They don't look as good as Lwin's but they are 100 times better than they were. I saw the bottle of cleaner, it was "3M Plastic Cleaner". He used an air powered grinder wheel with a buffer pad installed. Randy (Scared to bake his headlamps at any temperature) ii |
i have the 3M cleaner AND polish. you can do it yourself and save a few bucks.

<<that was a JOKE. (i realize there aren't a factory full of workers "blowing" headlights) lighten up, folks (pun intended).>>
There actually was some discussion to see if they could be made from blown glass, so that's what I thought you were referring to. Doug |
