Radiator and coolant :-/

Hey all, how have your transmissions been?

Have been really enjoying my GS 450h lately, but it is starting to get cold and I figure I ought to get the SVX up and running. As most of you old timers know my car is stock right down to the wiper inserts except for the Level 10 transmission. About 5 months ago the top tank on the radiator cracked and poor old nifty has been parked ever since. I am going to get a replacement radiator and thought I would ask what everyone is running. I will not purchase one from any discount auto parts store, I am actually thinking of having my current one retanked if possible. Also, is anyone using the new blue coolant? It's been three years since my last coolant service so it's due anyway, and of course I like my head gaskets and my water pump so I won't use any of that hateful coolant available...where ever people buy parts that aren't stock. I am also considering using the toyota super long life antifreeze/coolant that is pink because I have a ton at the shop.

Who has what thoughts?

The Silla is going to be the cheapest and most available stock option.

The PWR is a good option but never really had the "stock" fitment so it could go either way.

Prestone makes a good long life coolant that I will be using in my car this winter at its next service. Its red/pink.

Nate-

What Tom said. The silla is very inexpensive and basically looks identical to the OEM calsonic. The PWR i'd imagine would basically last forever, but doesn't retain the stock look. I think when I replace my radiator (still on the original ) I'll go with an OEM calsonic unit.

my radiator bursted from water pump failure. i was going to buy one of those super tough aluminum ones that would never burst, but was told not to because when something is gonna blow because of pressure, if it isn't your radiator, it's gonna be something more serious (waterpump, idler pulleys, head gasket, soul, wallet, etc.)

I bought one on eBay for $110 shipped, I don't think it actually said the manufacturer on it but I believe it is the Silla. I had heard of others on here having issues with them cracking within a year or two, but I decided to take my chances for that price. I almost went with the PWR, but couldn't justify the cost and was turned away by the fitment issues.

I bought 2 of the same. Exact replicas. I've had one for 27 months on the Ebony and the other for 10 months on the Claret.

I went ahead and got an OEM calsonic unit on the way. $390 my cost. I also think I'll use the pink toyota sllac coolant this time around. I am very good about coolant maintenance on this car since I have had it back in 99. I am hoping this will make for long lasting head gaskets. I want it to run for whatever the 20th meet ends up being, I plan on going to whatever it is in my SVX
