Trans & bearing tool

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying a shop press to assist me with a 5MT rebuild. Would this also be useful for bearings? Could I take out my rear hub assembly and use this press to extract the bearing from the hub? It would be cheaper to buy the press and some adapter plates specific to the SVX bearing than it would be to buy the hub tamer.

Thanks in advance.

Mat

I thought about that once, never tried it though.
What role will the press play in the 5mt?

Yes, this is how I did the bearing on Mike621's car

for the 5mt the press will serve as an installation tool for a strengthened gearset. I guess for 100 bux I could find plenty of uses for it. If all else fails, it'll be the coolest can crusher ever! :p

Did you get plates made to press out the bearing, or were you able to do it without any special tools?
