Wouldn't start

I went out to my car today and turned the key the car just sat there and turned over. I tried starting it for about 5 minutes and it just wouldn't catch. I heard the fuel pump turn on and prime the system, but the car just wouldn't catch. However, after a few minutes of cranking, I finally decided to use the gas pedal a little and the car fired fairly soon afterward.

The last time I drove the car was Saturday and it was cold that day (35 degrees outside) and today it was about 68 outside when I tried to start the car. Am I looking at a Coolant Temperature sensor issue here? Maybe crank position? I know the TPS is all right and the MAF is all right as well. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think your reasoning in suspecting a coolant temperature issue is logical. By pumping the pedal you could have over ridden the need for cold start instructions from the ECU. May be could just temporally have been an issue. You could check for a stored code.;)

Replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor. Was hoping that the CTS might clear up my hesitation at cold issues. Unfortunately, they still persist. But, that's one thing crossed off the list.

Cam sensor will cause the same situation.
