What happend with transmission ?

Hello Everybody!

Week ago I gought the '93 SVX with a broken transmission. Unfortunately I do not know why the taransmission is broken. This is what's going on. I can move the lever and nothing happend. The transmission is not responding. It looks like dead.

I live in Poland and that car is very rare in my country.

Maybe some of you can help me and could know something about my tranny problem.

Thanks,
Artur

Sounds like the shifter cable has broken. You'd know for sure if you can start the engine from any shifter position.

Welcome to the site and enjoy your stay.

Yeah, and if that's the case then you probably got a really good deal. The transmission would likely be okay.

Thanks for reply.

Today I checked if I can start the engine on every shifter position.
The engine is starting only when the lever is on P and N.

My mechanic told my that the transmission oil pump doesn't pump the oil to the cooler.

Do you know something about that type of problem?

Yeah, it sounds like a bad pump. :)

Seriously, if the pump is bad, then you're probably looking at a new or rebuilt transmission. That's an expensive prospect even for those of us where the SVX is relatively common. But I can't imagine how many (or how few) SVXs were sold in Poland. I would guess that it'd be expensive to rebuild a transmission there.

Does it have fluid?

I believe Doug (mohrds) had this problem on one of his SVX's.
