3rd Annual NWSVX Spring Classic June 10th!
It may be a month or so later than normal (maybe Early Summer Classic), but June 10th gives us an even better chance of sunny weather here in the Northwest and puts the meet more evenly between the Tech Day in April and Seafood Fest in August.
This year's Classic is going to be a bit different from the past two years, with a longer, more highway-oriented route and completely different scenery. We'll meet in Monroe, WA Saturday morning, and head out east on Hwy 2. Up and over the Cascade Mountains via Stevens Pass, and stop for lunch in Leavenworth, the Bavarian Village nestled in the foothills on the Eastern slopes. After lunch, we'll head south until we meet up with I-90, which will take us west and back up and over to the west side. We'll end the day in Issaquah at the XXX drive-in, where we can park and enjoy the Saturday night Cruise-In and partake of more food and conversation. Exact times will be posted shortly, but for now mark your calendars for June 10th. Plan to be in the Monroe area by around 10:00am, and we probably won't be back in Issaquah until around 6:00pm. Again, an exact schedule will be posted soon, but this should be enough to base your plans around. You don't want to miss this event, this is going to be the driving event of the year!!! If you have any questions at all, including lodging needs, etc, don't hesitate to ask me! To help me plan the tour, coordinate restaurant reservations, etc, please RSVP on the list below. Please put each car as a separate entry and how many in each car next to it. Thanks! 1. Troy - SVX - 1 2. Example 1 - SVX - 2 3. Example 2 - WRX - 2 |
Hey gang, long time no see. Well you won't see any posts from the SeaSleeper alias since my password was somehow changed and my emails to the admin seem to be lost in the vortex. :D

The Details!
We're meeting this Saturday, June 10th, at 10:00am in Monroe, WA. Earlier is fine, but no later than 10:15 when we have the Driver's Meeting and then head out to keep our schedule for the lunch reservations. :)
For those that can't be with us the whole day, please note the times below and maybe you can meet up with us at one of the stops..... 10:00am Start at the Grocery Outlet parking lot in Monroe, WA: 405 Butler Avenue, Monroe, WA 98272 You can get directions to there online, and it's pretty easy to find - right at the intersection of Hwy 2 and Main Street next to the old smoke stack (can't miss it, tallest thing in town). It's a big parking lot and we can park near the espresso stand there so people can get their morning fix. This tour is going to be a little less structured than what we've done the last couple years since it's longer distance more highway-oriented. We can fit in a couple 15 minute breaks between each of the tour legs if people know of a cool touristy spot on the route or just need a rest stop. ;) 1:00pm Lunch for the whole group in Leavenworth! One of our members is setting this up and his sources tell him this is a great place for a group lunch in town. Might be handy to bring some extra cash to make it easier to pay. Leavenworth itself is also a can't-miss, so we'll allow some extra time after lunch for exploring around this one-of-a-kind Bavarian village. :) 3:00pm Regroup and head out of town. We'll follow Hwy 2 just a bit further east, then head south on Hwy 97, running the east slope of the Cascades down to I-90. Whoo Hoo! :D 4:30pm Quick stop in Cle Elum to stretch, etc. Then its due west on I-90, shooting back over the mountains toward the Seattle-side of the state! 6:00pm Arrive at the XXX Drive In (98 NE Gilman Boulevard, Issaquah, WA). The XXX has famous rootbeer, food, and shakes, and also is the place for car fanatics to gather on Saturday nights for Cruise Ins. Our journey ends here, but you can stay and look at the classic cars, grab dinner, and talk into the wee hours of the evening if you wish. :) Issaquah is also just a few miles down the freeway from I-5, so it will be easy when you return home. Other Notes Bring FRS radios if you have them! This has been our tried-and-true method of communication on past tours, especially the more expensive longer range models. It is handy to be able to communicate car-to-car to keep the group together, schedule an impromptu stop, etc. Bring Cash $$$ Nowadays everyone takes debit cards, but you never know when it might be handy. Gas up in Monroe. It's one of the cheaper places to fill up your tank in the Puget Sound area, and if you start the 200-mile tour with a full tank, you will not have to worry about a gas stop halfway through. In fact, most of you could still get all the way home afterwards without stopping. :) Keep the sign up list updated. Not only is it nice to know if everyone's shown up or not Saturday morning, but we need an accurate headcount for restaurant reservations. Thanks! Email me with any questions, including lodging issues! It's never too late to signup and we'd love to get some new faces to show up, as well as some members from out of the area. |
