Tranny Sensor Clip Thingy
So, I got to talking with a local Subaru gearhead and we got to talking about the SVX, and during the conversation, he showed me the clip by the battery for the transmission sensor doohickey. He told me that if I were to unplug the clip, the tranny would shift on a dime with no hesitation. I tried it and loved the way it feels and the performance boost. My only question is this. Are there any prolonged side effects of doing this? I noticed that the power light would flash 16 times. Just to be on the safe side, I plugged it back in.
The only reason I ask is because this little temporary mod could very well jolt me into the 15 second barrier at the strip. This would not be a daily driver mod, only at the track. Keith |
that is the same thing the shift kit installs into. which the shift kit allows u to adjust what u are feeling to your own setting. for me with out the lights.

This is the transmission resistor mod. You should find plenty of info with a search.

I've had the tranny resistor disconnected on my car for over 1.5 years with no ill-effects.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...etkd/17530.jpg The shifts are nice & firm and you'll have no issues as long as you leave the shifter in 'D'. If you put the shifter in '2' or '3' then you'll experience some very 'jerky' downshifts when decelerating... As I'm getting ready for the Subaru Challenge autox meet in September, yesterday I ordered the Smallcar Shift Kit from Rob Eubank (internet/ebay sales). This'll keep my firm shifts, but get rid of the 'jerky' downshifting while tearing it up at the autox circuit! :D -Chike |
That is a good enough response for me Chike. It is final, good bye tranny resistor.:D
