Exhaust option poll

What do you want??? We are trying to decide how to break down our systems so please help us out here with your input

I think it wouldn't be too much work to offer all of these options. The difference between a full header-back and a cat-back would only be the short pipe off the main cat to the resonator. For the cat-back system it would need to be compatible with the stock main cat, and for the header back it would have to match the 2-1 cat. Simply have both pipes on the shelf, and pull the one required for the application.

You are right, but I would like to have the input so i can get an idea of what to produce and what to order

the thing is, in order to make packaging easier, the breaks in the pipe wont necicarilly be where the stock ones are... plus for proformance reasons, on the full exhaust I think it would be a good idea to use longer head pipes...meaning they mearge into the cat later. of course once we have a car on the lift we can fully evaluate what is going to work best from there

personally, I think we should offer a full exhaust, a cat back, and just a muffler set up, each one using similar dimensions, but able to meet up with the co-responding sstock parts

Out of curiousity, why did you pick a Flow Master for the muffler on your systems?

Make an exhaust like mine. Have options for different mufflers.

All together I only paid about $450 for the parts

Are you going to be mass producing equal length headers in the future?

Flowmaster is headquartered in my hometown, so I've considered having them simply bolt on a cat-back system when I get my restoration done...

...if I don't get a true-dual exhaust system done up by Stromung.

I'm going to have to say... Full header back 2.5" true dual. 2x cats, no resonators, 2x magna flow racing mufflers, 2x pace setter glasspack tips

TomsSVX 02-12-2008 07:30 AM

I chose flowmaster for a reason. Their mufflers do tend to impede flow, but not enough to affect a stock engine. That being said, the magnaflow mufflers tend to resonate a lot more creating the 'twaaaaaang" sound which I so desperately hate. So the flowmasters make better sound and they will not choke out a stock system. I can make any system you guys want, but if you want me to stock these systems (meaning they are not built to order) I will need to know what you want for a mostly stock car. Special orders are welcome but expect me to suggest certain things with them. For example... a dual 2.5" is WAY too big I would say a 2" dual would be fine. Mine is huge so there is no restriction, not everyone is going to want the sound that comes with those big echoing pipes

What about that bullet muffler that dan has?

TomsSVX 02-12-2008 08:38 AM

i would have to do some more research on that one

I voted for the header-back, but I'm really much more interested in a true dual setup. Being in a non-emissions county, I would go for dual resonators and dual mufflers; is there a way to do a true dual with just two cats and be street legal for the emissions-hampered people?

TomsSVX 02-12-2008 01:36 PM

Yes, I can make a true dual system with two cats, two resonators and two mufflers. This should be enough to pass inspection in the less strict states. Some states will require identical system layouts with equal or better standards which may not like this so much.

YT,
A very timely thread! I think we're going to see more SVXi with their cats starting to die out, thus making the "manifold back" option a good one. It is definitely one of the best performance options available.
